Kid Cudi fired M.I.A. as an opener on the Rebel Ragers Tour after the British singer went on a political rant during a recent show.
âTOUR UPDATE: M.I.A is no longer on this tour,â the âDay ânâ Niteâ rapper â born Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi â wrote on his Instagram Stories Monday.
âI told my management to send a notice to her team before we started tour that I didnât want anything offensive at my shows, cuz I already knew what time it was, and I was assured things were understood,â Cudi added.
The Grammy winner, 42, said he was âflooded with messages from fans that were upset by her rantsâ following their last couple of concerts.
âThis, to me, is very disappointing, and I wont have someone on my tour making offensive remarks that upsets my fanbase,â he wrote.
âThank you for understanding. Rager,â Cudi concluded.
Page Six has reached out to M.I.A. for comment but did not immediately hear back.
However, she took to X to clarify her remarks after a fan claimed the singer ârandomly started talking about how sheâs a Republicanâ and âhow at that concert thereâs probably a bunch of illegals that sheâs having to play too [sic].â
âI WROTE âILLYGALâ ON THE âMAYAâ LP A SONG FROM 2010. I STARTED THIS INTRO TO THE SONG WITH THE STATEMENT SAYING, âIâM ILLYGAL,â AND I SAID, âMY TEAM HASNâT GOTTEN VISAS YET,ââ she wrote Monday.
âTHEN PLAYED A SONG THAT HAD LYRICS SAYING âFU&% THE LAW,â WHICH I STILL BELIEVE, IF THE LAW IS UNJUST F@%& IT. DO NOT GAS LIGHT MY WORDS. THAT IS THE WORK OF SATAN,â M.I.A. added.
In a second tweet, the âBad Girlsâ singer also addressed claims that she previously endorsed President Donald Trump, writing, âDONâT BE AN AGENT OF DIVISION, I CANâT VOTE IN THE US, AND 48% OF LATIN COMMUNITY VOTED TRUMP. SO ARE YOU GOING TO HATE THEM ALL?
âWE MUST UNITE TO MAKE THIS COUNTRY, THAT EVERYONE WANTS TO LIVE IN A BETTER PLACE. IF YOU ARE EASYLY LED BY RUMOUR THEN YOU DONâT SEE THE LIGHT FOR YOURSELF. I PRAY FOR YOUR AWAKENING,â she penned.
The âPaper Planesâ musicianâs firing came after a video surfaced of her being booed following a political rant during her performance at the Dos Equis Pavilion in Dallas on Saturday.
âIâve been canceled for many reasons. I never thought I would be canceled for being a brown Republican voter,â M.I.A. â whose real name is Mathangi âMayaâ Arulpragasam â said in one clip.
In another video, she said: âI canât do âIllegal,â though some of you could be in the audience.â
The Rebel Ragers Tour was slated to continue with a stop in Birmingham, Alabama, Tuesday, but it was canceled due to low ticket sales.
Cudiâs next show will be on Wednesday in Atlanta with opener Big Boi, as well as A-Trak, Me N Ă and Dot Da Genius performing in select cities.
