Josh Groban is still “The One That Got Away” for Katy Perry.
Perry posted a TikTok on Monday mourning the news that Groban, whom she briefly dated in 2009, was engaged to British actress Natalie McQueen.
In the video, Perry, who was wearing a white bathrobe, poured herself a full glass of what appeared to be Champagne and took a sip as she jokingly cried over the engagement news.
Perry’s 2011 song “The One That Got Away” — which is about Groban — played over the video.
The pop star gave the newly-engaged couple her best wishes by captioning the post “congrats” with a champagne emoji.
Perry’s post about Groban got a big reaction from fans in the TikTok comments.
“This is bold and I love it, maybe they will break their engagement for you,” one fan joked to Perry, who is currently dating former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Someone else wrote, “I DIDN’T EVEN REALIZE THIS IS KATY PERRY’S ACCOUNT.”
A third fan called Perry “crazy” for the TikTok, while another account said the singer “did the funniest thing” by posting about her ex’s engagement.
Perry, 41, confirmed that Groban inspired “The One That Got Away” during a 2017 livestream while promoting her “Witness” album.
The following year, Groban, 45, revealed that Perry’s confession about her song was news to him.
“I was not expecting that. That was a double take and a spit of my coffee when I saw that,” he said on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.”
The “You Raise Me Up” singer added, “It’s very sweet of her to say that. And then I listened to the lyrics of the song. And I’m like, ‘I never owned a Mustang. I don’t have a tattoo. Are you sure that’s about me?’”
“I’m very flattered by it,” he added. “But I was very surprised by it too.”
Groban also explained that the pair broke up because they “were both very private” and decided they “were better as friends.”
“We’ve been very good friends to this day,” he shared. “She’s the best.”
