It’s no secret that fans considered Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau to be a rather unusual pairing, but the pop-star and politician showed up on Monday night to prove they are every bit the happy couple for their first official carpet debut.
The Firework hitmaker, 41, and her ex-Canadian Prime Minister beau, 54, couldn’t keep their eyes, or hands, off of one another as they marked their first official carpet appearance as a couple at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.
While both household names – in polar opposite fields – the two looked completely in sync, as they put on a gorgeously cozy display of affection for the cameras.
Katy opted for a V-line white column maxi-dress, accented with a cluster of 3D flower embellishments at the neck and waist. The grecian-glamour was complimented by the politicians’ similarly monochromatic look, sporting a tailored black suit and open collar.
© Getty Images for Tribeca FestivaThe first public sighting of the duo together dates back as recently as July 2025, when they were spotted enjoying a walk in Montreal’s Mount Royal Park with Katy’s dog, and then an intimate dinner together that night.
© GC ImagesLater that year, the pair hard launched their budding romance online, as Justin shared a picture on social media of himself alongside Katy and the former Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida, and his wife – of all places.
In April of this year, the singer appeared to take a dig at ex-partner of almost a decade, Orlando Bloom, from whom she called it quits in July 2025 – after nearly a decade together, including a six-year engagement.

While it seems the star enjoyed taking a jab at her famous ex, with whom she shares five-year-old daughter, Daisy – tonight, eyes were glued to the dazzling new couple.
The political powerhouse was there in support of his new girlfriend for the screening of her concert film, Katy Perry, The Lifetime Tour – Live from Paris.
Justin was previously married for 18 years to Sophie Trudeau, with the couple announcing their separation in 2023, after welcoming their three children Xavier, Ella-Grace and Hadrien into the world together.
It seems however Katy has taken on the role of doting step-mum, with Justin’s son Xavier thankful for her support. Xavier, an aspiring musician, revealed during the Can’t Be Censored podcast: “When I’m really happy with a song, [I] send it [to her]. She’s always happy to give me advice or tell me what I should change.”

It seems nearly a year on, the two are still very much enjoying the honeymoon period, as their performance last night signalled, in their eyes, they were the only two in the room. Another sweet moment captured Trudeau proudly watching Katy as she posed for a couple solo shots on the carpet, and by the look on his face, he had rose-tinted glasses firmly on.
