Prince Harry is reportedly planning to make a movie about his late mother, Princess Diana — and Prince William is not happy about it.
“One of the reasons Harry [returned to the United Kingdom] is to make a television film, his own film, about his mother,” the Daily Mail claimed Thursday.
Daily Mail’s Senior Editor-at-Large Richard Kay alleged the Duke of Sussex, 41, “has been reaching out to his friends and others who knew” his mom, who died in August 1997 at 36, and “asking them to contribute.”
The royal expert noted, “Let’s not forget who Harry spent time with when he was here in July, it was Diana’s family at Althorp.”
The alleged project, which will “occupy a lot of [Harry’s] headspace over the next 12 months,” has left William, 44, with “intense frustration,” per Kay.
He noted that Harry and William were “last really in step” when they worked together on the “Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy” documentary in 2017.
However, Harry’s plans for another movie will “throw up that old canard” with “people always link[ing] Harry to Diana,” Kay predicted.
“She was the mother of two boys,” he emphasized. “William is just as much his mother’s son as Harry is, and Harry has tried to claim the Diana legacy for himself.”
Kay pointed out that the Prince of Wales “does not bang on about his mother all the time, though he has at several points.”
He continued, “This issue of trying to use Diana, the Spencer brand, the Spencer name, to divide himself away from the House of Windsor, I think is something we’re going to see even more of.”
Reps for Harry and William did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
Harry and William have had a strained relationship for years, and the latter has yet to respond to his sibling’s bombshell move back to the United Kingdom from their Montecito, California, mansion.
He, wife Meghan Markle and their two kids — Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5 — touched down across the pond last month.
William and Kate Middleton reportedly plan to proceed business as usual with their estranged family members nearby.
“It makes no difference if Harry and Meghan are in Oxfordshire, California or Timbuktu,” the couple’s friend recently shared with the Daily Mail.
“William and Catherine will continue their lives of public service,” the outlet added. “They intend to lead by example.”
Page Six reported in August that Harry and Markle, notably, are house hunting in the Cotswolds — and that the duo is sending their little ones to a posh prep school, setting them back $35,000 a year.
In addition to the alleged movie about Diana, we hear another reason behind the former military pilot’s move to England is Harry’s dad, King Charles III, who went public with his cancer battle in early 2024.
Markle, meanwhile, is reportedly eyeing a return to acting while in her husband’s homeland.
