Julia Roberts was a proud mom on Thursday as she walked the streets of New York City with her eldest son, Phinnaeus Moder, just days after celebrating her second son Henryâs 19th birthday in the Big Apple.
The actress looked laid back as she walked arm-in-arm with Phinnaeus, who is currently on summer break from college. Julia sported a black button-up shirt, denim shorts and white sneakers, and accessorized with a brown cross-body bag and black sunglasses.
Her 21-year-old son rocked a black graphic tee, khaki shorts, striped socks, green loafers and a maroon cap to top it off. Julia celebrated his milestone birthday, alongside his twin, Hazel, in November 2025 with a touching tribute to the pair on social media.Â
âThese game changers, life alterers, [heart] expanders once were 1 and now are 21! That was fast,â she wrote alongside a photo of the pair as babies sitting in high chairs. âHappy Birthday my Dears.â
Julia shares Phinnaeus, Hazel and Henry with her husband of 24 years, Danny Moder, whom she met on the set of The Mexican in 2000. The blonde beauty shared in 72 Magazine that she and Danny were strict parents and tried to provide stability for their three children.Â
âI think they were, for sure, some of the last kids in their peer groups to get phones and stuff like that,â she explained. âWhen they were younger, certainly, Danny and I would have been considered some of the stricter parents. Not like weâre laying down the law, but these are the rules, and they donât change.â
âHereâs the boundary of your life, and it does not shift. You know, you donât ask me and get an answer and then go ask dad and get a different answer. That doesnât happen. It will never happen,â she continued. âI think that is what creates the stability that then allows them to feel secure because you know there is this fixed world of love and safety that exists unconditionally.â

While Phinnaeus and Hazel are away at college, Julia shared that the pair still makes time to come home and see their parents when possible. âItâs all fun, honestlyâŠI love hanging out with them and spending time with them,â she said on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
âFortunately, we have had lots of visits along the way of this empty nest,â she added, after joking about âsobbingâ when her kids left home.Â
Despite Hazel and Phinnaeus flying the nest, Julia explained that she still imparted parental wisdom over the phone at every opportunity.Â
âI parent them the same way out of the house that I parented them in the house, which is âAre you getting enough sleep? You sound like youâre sick, are you drinking enough tea? Text me when you get home. I can see that youâre home safe and sound,'â she told Today.Â
âAnd I have immense amount of appreciation for both of my older kids because they still allow me to be the same mom to them, and itâs not eye-rolling. Thereâs a huge amount of understanding.â
