Actor Josh Grisetti died by suicide on Friday, according to his friend and Broadway star Rob McClure. He was 44.
âIt is with a shattered heart that I share that the brilliant Josh Grisetti took his own life on Friday,â McClure wrote on Instagram Sunday alongside a carousel of images of them together.
âIâm not ready to even attempt to understand. My heart is with his wife and family as they try to deal with the reality of this,â the âGood Fightâ actor, also 44, added.
âSome of my all-time favorite memories were by this manâs side, playing his brother onstage for years, watching him inspire students while transforming the Musical Theatre program at Cal State Fullerton âŚand having the honor of being the Best Man at his wedding.â
McClure said he and his wife, Maggie Lakis, are âbeyond heartbrokenâ by the tragic news.
âCommunities around the world will never be the same without him. We love you Josh. Just a cataclysmic loss,â he wrote.
The âIâm Not Rappaportâ star concluded his tribute by telling fans that info about Grisettiâs memorial will âcome in time.â
In the comments section of McClureâs post, several stars penned their condolences.
âMy sincerest sympathies đ sending so much love and care to his nearest and dearest,â wrote Ariana DeBose.

Grisetti was born in Washington, DC, in December 1981. In 2004, he graduated from college at The Boston Conservatory with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in musical theatre.
Grisetti rose to fame in 2015 when he made his Broadway debut starring as Marty Kaufman in âIt Shoulda Been You.â
The performance that earned the actor a Theatre World Award as well as Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award nominations.
The following year, Grisetti solidified his Broadway career by starring as Nigel Bottom in the hit musical âSomething Rotten!.â
Grisetti gained a wider television audience by starring in the 2007 ABC sitcom âThe Knights of Prosperity.â In 2023, he landed a recurring role as Ralph Emerson in the final season of âThe Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.â
Josh is survived by his wife, real estate agent Mackenzie Grisetti, whom he married in February 2020.
