Jenny Mollen revealed she felt tossed aside early on in her marriage to Jason Biggs.
âWhen I got together with Jason, I always had a chip on my shoulder in the beginning because I felt like suddenly I went from being the oldest daughter and I felt like I had my sât together and then suddenly, I married this guy who in a lot of ways â career wise â totally eclipsed me,â the actress expressed on the âWhat Matters With Lizâ podcast.
While the episode was released on Wednesday, it was recorded before their split â which was announced several weeks ago, after 18 years of marriage.
The writer confessed that people were mesmerized over her ex, leaving her to become âthe guest.â
âAnd it drove me crazy to always just be, like, brushed to the side,â Mollen added.
The mom of two teased that she felt like Prince Harry, whose memoir âSpare,â detailed being the second child in the royal family and that complicated dynamic.
âTo be the spare and not the heir,â Mollen continued. âIt was like, âWhat is happening?â I was the spare. I was the âAmerican Pieâ spare. I relate to Harry. That drove me mad and I always had this feeling.â
The âAmateur Nightâ star noted that between growing up with âtwo narcissist parentsâ and tying the knot with Biggs, who was âwildly more famousâ than her, there was no structure.
â[I felt] that nobody was listening to what I was doing anyway,â Mollen admitted. âI could get away with saying whatever the fâk I wanted.â
Meanwhile, last week, the âCattle Callâ actress posted a Substack essay detailing her struggle to feel worth and validated.
âThe highest highs of my life have all hit like pennies disappearing into a bottomless well. Iâd wait â maybe a moment or two for the sound of something landing, but before it ever did, I was on to the next,â she penned.
Earlier this month, a spokesperson for Mollen and Biggs confirmed their split, stating that the two were on great terms and focused on raising their sons, Lazlo, 8, and Sid, 12.
Rumors of a breakup had been circulating for the past nine months.
However, a source told People that despite parting ways romantically, the exes spent the actorâs 48th birthday together in early May.
âThey are very much connected,â the insider shared. âI have no doubt that they will remain on excellent terms.â
Mollen and Biggs first met on the film âMy Best Friendâs Girlâ in 2007, before getting engaged in January 2008.
The duo eloped that April.
Just a few months later, in July, Mollen and Biggs renewed their vows in Napa, California.
