Jake Reiner made his first public appearance on Tuesday since the tragic death of his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, in December 2025. The actor arrived at the Los Angeles premiere of Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Happiness in support of his parentsâ good friend, Larry David, ahead of his own role in the show.Â
Jake was dapper in black pants, a gray tee and a navy blazer, paired with black dress shoes. âAttended the premiere of Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness this week. Comes out Friday on @hbo @hbomax, look out for me in the first episode #LifeLarryAmerica,â he wrote on Instagram.Â
The 35-year-old stepped out for the first time since Rob and Michele were found dead inside their Brentwood home on December 14. Their bodies were discovered by Jakeâs younger sister, Romy, and their brother Nick was arrested on suspicion of murder and later charged.
Nick pleaded not guilty to the murder charges and has been in custody in Los Angeles ever since. He recently requested the release of his trust fund to pay his legal fees and will next appear in court in September.
Jake and Romy shared an emotional statement in the wake of their parentsâ death, asking for privacy as they mourned the devastating loss.Â
âWords cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day. The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience. They werenât just our parents; they were our best friends,â they wrote.Â
âWe are grateful for the outpouring of condolences, kindness, and support we have received not only from family and friends but people from all walks of life. We now ask for respect and privacy, for speculation to be tempered with compassion and humanity, and for our parents to be remembered for the incredible lives they lived and the love they gave.â

Jake then shared insight into his deep well of grief in a tear-jerking Substack piece published in April, as he explained how his world âcollapsedâ.
âMy world, as I knew it, had collapsed,â he wrote. âI was in a trance. The only thing I could focus on was that I needed to get to my childhood home. I needed to get to my sister. I needed to figure out what the hell just happened.â
âI was robbed of so many things that day. My parents wonât be at my wedding, they wonât get to hold their future grandchild, and they wonât get to see me have the successful career Iâm still seeking. It simultaneously breaks my heart and enrages me.â
He added that it was âimpossible to processâ the fact that his brother was at the center of the devastation wreaked on his family. âWe lost more than half of our family that night in the most violent way imaginable,â Jake wrote.
âSure, any loss of a parent is devastating, but nothing compares to losing both of them at the same time and, on top of that, having your brother be at the center of it.â
