Amal Clooney was the epitome of a golden goddess on Monday evening as she stepped out with her husband, Hollywood legend George Clooney, at The King’s Trust 50th Anniversary Celebration at the Royal Albert Hall.

The human rights barrister, 48, looked incredible in an embellished gold gown featuring capped sleeves, a V-shaped neckline, and a figure-flattering straight fit that cut off just below the ankle. Her red carpet gown was paired with her signature gold pointed-toe stilettos that were showcased by the split in the back of her dress.

The lawyer also added a gold clutch and statement hoop earrings to round off her look. It’s a look that fashion stylist Leanne Jones, who has shared her thoughts on Amal’s look with us, points out has been worn before on the red carpet – but not by Amal.

In 2007, actress Cameron Diaz wore the exact same dress to the Japanese premiere of Shrek the Third in Tokyo. Styled almost identically, Cameron paired the garment with gold heels and jewellery to match.

Amal proved the timeless appeal of the look. “What a dress! Amal absolutely stands out as best dressed here in a colour that perfectly complements her warm, rich hair and skin tone,” Leanne says. “This is vintage Alexander McQueen – an unforgettable piece that has also featured in Sotheby’s ‘Fashion Icons’ auction.

“The silhouette works beautifully on someone tall and slender, and the colour is spot on. She earns extra styling points for the confident colour blocking too, with the gold clutch and matching shoes completing a polished, considered look.”

It comes after Amal opted for a shorter, more playful dress for the 51st Chaplin Award Gala honouring George Clooney at the Lincoln Center in New York City in April. The brunette beauty stunned in a magenta puffball mini dress by Balenciaga with a strapless neckline and a chic train detail.

At the time, Leanne explained why Amal’s purple look, which was styled with the swishiest ponytail and metallic accessories, was so effective. “The colour is absolutely on point as a feature colour for the SS26 direction.

“Magenta is a statement shade that commands attention, and this Balenciaga dress makes a real impact through both tone and silhouette. It’s also a colour that symbolises transformation, creativity and non-conformity – a powerful message when Amal is flanked by men in black tie attire!”
