Christine Taylor credited the COVID-19 pandemic for saving her marriage to Ben Stiller after the couple called it quits nearly 10 years ago.
âIf thereâs a silver lining for us during Covid, that was the little gift,â Taylor, 54, shared on Tuesdayâs episode of the âMcBride Rewindâ podcast.
âWe all kind of bubbled up together with our kids. Our daughter was graduating high school at the time, our son was graduating eighth grade. We all were in the house together and we had nothing but time.â
Stiller and Taylor are parents to two children: Ella, 24, and Quinlin, 20.
Taylor told the host that she and the âNight at the Museumâ star âfound the way backâ to each other after they devoted âa lot of timeâ to working on their relationship with a therapist.
âI think itâs something people donât love to talk about because it feels like a failure.â
Taylor added that she felt their breakup was because âwe werenât on the same page with a lot of things.â
The couple announced their split in 2017 after 17 years of marriage.
âWith tremendous love and respect for each other, and the 18 years we spent together as a couple, we have made the decision to separate,â Stiller and Taylor said in a joint statement at the time.
âOur priority will continue to be raising our children as devoted parents and the closest of friends. We kindly ask that the media respect our privacy at this time,â they closed.
However, the break was short-lived as Stiller later confirmed that the pair had rekindled their romance in his 2022 Esquire interview.
âWe were separated and got back together and weâre happy about that. Itâs been really wonderful for all of us. Unexpected, and one of the things that came out of the pandemic,â the actor told the outlet.
