Charlize Theron stole the spotlight at The Odyssey photocall in Paris on Tuesday. Joining co-stars Zendaya, Anne Hathaway and Lupita Nyongâo, the Oscar-winning actress, 49, turned heads in a daring tailored look that put her incredibly toned legs on full display.
Opting for an unexpected take on tailoring, the Mad Max: Fury Road star paired silky powder-blue satin shorts with an oversized black double-breasted blazer layered over a pale yellow shirt, leaving several buttons undone for an effortlessly chic finish.
She completed the fashion-forward ensemble with delicate silver stiletto sandals, sleek black sunglasses and a fresh blonde bob that skimmed her jawline.
Strong inside and out
While Charlizeâs latest appearance highlighted her enviably sculpted physique, maintaining that strength has become increasingly important as sheâs grown older.
Despite being renowned for performing many of her own action sequences, the actress has admitted that recovery isnât quite as easy as it once was.
âThe thing that really bums me out is that I make action movies now and if I hurt myself, I take way longer to heal than I did in my 20s,â she previously told Allure.
âI wish I had my 25-year-old body that I can just throw against the wall and not even hurt tomorrow. Now, if I donât work out for three days and I go back to the gym, I canât walk. I canât sit down on the toilet.â
The workout routine behind those famous legs
Charlizeâs lean, athletic frame is the result of years of disciplined training rather than quick fixes.
The actress works closely with long-time personal trainer Fedele De Santis, with strength, flexibility and power forming the foundation of her fitness routine.
âI have been working with him for many years now,â she told Womenâs Health, explaining that the goal is always âto be strong but graceful.â
Her strength sessions have included exercises such as glute bridges, lateral raises and exercise-ball chest presses, helping her build the explosive power needed for physically demanding film roles.
Outside the gym, Charlize credits Pilates as one of the biggest game changers for her body.
âPilates has totally changed my body,â she previously shared. âIt relieves tension but builds muscle and strength, and it gave me the platform on which everything else could be built.â
The actress also incorporates two 90-minute power yoga classes each week, regular spin sessions and, more recently, tennis into her exercise routine.
âMy mum recently got me to play tennis, which I wasnât good at but really enjoyed,â she said. âIf you do exercise you enjoy, youâre keeping yourself fit without even realising it.â
Built for action
Charlizeâs love of movement began long before Hollywood came calling.
âI was a ballerina for 12 years,â she has revealed, explaining that her dance background sparked her passion for physically demanding roles.
That lifelong commitment to fitness has served her well throughout a career packed with action blockbusters including Atomic Blonde, The Old Guard and Mad Max: Fury Road.
