Britney Spearsâ rep has denied claims that the singer was âscreamingâ and âbarkingâ at guests in a Los Angeles restaurant on May 13, 2026.
Amid customers alleging that a âchaoticâ Britney walked by their table holding a knife, and a journalist taking to X to claim it was an âinsane dining experience,â Britneyâs team has hit back, insisting it was a âquiet dinnerâ and that attacks on Britney âneed to stop nowâ.
âBritney was enjoying a quiet dinner with her assistant and bodyguard,â her representative told HELLO! on May 14, 2026. âShe was simply telling the story about how her dog was barking at the neighbors. At no point did she put anyone in danger with a knife. She was cutting her hamburger in half.â
The statement continued: âThis constant attack on everything that she does and this is exactly what happened 20 years ago when the media tried to depict Britney as a bad person. This is ridiculous and it needs to stop now.â
Entertainment journalist Jeff Sneider posted on X that he was allegedly eating dinner next to the singer at the Blue Dog Tavern and called it a âWILD experience.â
âShe just left and everyone in the restaurant turned and started talking about it. An INSANE dining experience. One diner feared for her life. This is not a jokeâŠâ he quote-tweeted.
Patrons alleged to TMZÂ that she âwalked by their table holding a knifeâ and that they believe âBritney may have simply forgotten to put it down at her tableâ.
âBritney was raising her voice, screaming, and even barking at times,â alleged TMZ, âwith witnesses describing the vibe as chaotic and âkind of sadâ.â
The outing came two weeks after Britney was charged with drunk driving following an incident in March when the pop star was pulled over near her home in California by authorities.
Her representative quickly shared a statement in the wake of her arrest, saying: âThis was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable.â
âBritney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britneyâs life. Â Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time. Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well-being.â
On May 4, the 44-year-old pleaded guilty for a lesser charge that will allow her to avoid jail time. On her behalf, lawyer Michael A. Goldstein agreed to plead to whatâs commonly called a âwet reckless,â with a sentence of summary probation, a required DUI class and state-mandated fines.
Britney also temporarily yielded her Fourth Amendment search and seizure rights, meaning she must automatically yield to searches and sobriety tests if she is pulled over. It does not apply to her home.
The plea offer is standard for defendants with no DUI history, no crash or injury on the road, and a low blood-alcohol level, and especially defendants who have shown motivation to address their problems and seek treatment.
Britney voluntarily checked into a substance abuse treatment center in April.
