Boris Johnson’s eldest son, Wilfred, was the image of his former Prime Minister dad on Wednesday as he rang in his sixth birthday.

The youngster was featured in an adorable photo alongside his politician father, the pair wearing matching black karate outfits. While the duo’s outfits were similar, it was their striking platinum blonde locks that took front and centre of the adorable image.

The photo was among other adorable snaps shared by Wilfred’s adoring mother, Carrie Johnson, who had an adorable message for her son in the caption.

She wrote: “Happy 6th Birthday to the boy who totally changed my life. My sunshine boy, who is always, always cheery. Brave, kind and total softie. Love you, my boy.”

Other sweet photos showed Wilfred enjoying time on his bicycle, feeding a giraffe at the zoo, jumping into a picture-perfect blue pool while on holiday, as well as a series of special family snaps with his siblings, Romy, four, Frankie, two and baby Poppy.

Friends and fans of the family rushed to the comments to share kind messages on the youngster’s big day.

“Happy 6th Birthday, Wilf – we see everything that your Mum has described you as, through the wonderful photos she shares. Hope you all have the best day.” A second replied: “What a beautiful, loving birthday message. You are blessed to have such a wonderful family,” alongside a red love heart emoji.

Meanwhile, a third penned: “Have the bestest birthday, Wilf. Your sweet character shines through every time we get to see your photos.”

Six years today

Carrie and Boris welcomed their first baby, a little boy named Wilfred, on 29 April 2020.

A spokesperson for the couple revealed that they were parents to a “healthy baby boy” who was born “at a London hospital earlier this morning”.

They added: “Both mother and baby are doing very well. The Prime Minister and Miss Symonds would like to thank the fantastic NHS maternity team.”

At the time, there were no details of Wilfred’s weight, exact location or time of the birth, although Boris is thought to have been present at Wilfred’s arrival.

The couple had been through a tough time together prior to the birth, as Boris has been extremely unwell with COVID, spending three nights in intensive care, and Carrie had also experienced symptoms and been taken to bed for a week.

Downing Street announced that Boris would take a “short period” of paternity leave at some point later that year, due to his commitments leading the country through the pandemic.
