The 15-year-old son of investor and philanthropist Ronald Perelman and psychiatrist Dr. Anna Chapman has died, Page Six has learned.
Weâre told the gifted teen passed away on Tuesday night on the island of St. Maarten. His death is believed to be connected to a longstanding medical issue.
A rep for Perelman declined to comment.
âHe was a kind, smart child,â a source said, âVery smart â he was his fatherâs son.â
The MacAndrew & Forbes billionaire, 83, and Dr. Chapman tied the knot in 2010 and they announced the same year that they were welcoming Oscar via a surrogate.
âWe had some trials and tribulations getting to this point, and we are both thrilled,â Dr. Chapman told Page Six at the time.
âA baby is something theyâve both really wanted for a while,â a source said. âFriends say theyâve never seen Ronald happier or more content.â
Perelman made a fortune in the 1980s with investments, perhaps most notably in hair care brand Revlon, and heâs become one of the cityâs leading philanthropists with contributions including the Ronald O. Perelman Departments of Emergency Medicine and of Dermatology at NYU Langone Medical Center, the Ronald O. Perelman Heart Institute at New York Presbyterian Hospital, and the Ronald O. Perelman and Claudia Cohen Center for Reproductive Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical Center.
Perelman and Dr. Chapman also welcomed another child via surrogate in 2012.
He was married to Faith Golding from 1965 to 1984, and the exes share four kids: Steven, Josh, Hope, and Debra.
Perelman is also the father of daughter Samantha, whom he shares with his late ex-wife and late Page Six editor Claudia Cohen. They were married from 1985 to 1994.
He and his third ex-wife, Patricia Duff, whom he wed in 1995, welcomed daughter Caleigh.
Perelman also tied the knot with Ellen Barkin in 2000, and they divorced in 2006.
