Beartooth frontman Caleb Shomo and his wife of 14 years, Fleur Shomo, are legally going their separate ways nearly two months after he came out as gay.
Page Six can exclusively reveal that the now-former couple jointly filed for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court earlier this week.
They do not share any children.
The metalcore rocker, who wed Fleur in April 2012, revealed that he is âa proudly gay manâ in a vulnerable statement posted on Instagram on May 23.
Despite feeling âhurtâ and âdisorientedâ by her then-husbandâs revelation, Fleur publicly vowed to âlove and supportâ him â and asked his fans to do the same.
âSending love and support đȘ His statement is powerful,â one of whom subsequently posted on X.
âIâm so proud of Caleb Shomo,â added another X user who emphasized âhow hard it can be to come to terms with being queer.â
Someone else stressed that âit is never too late to come out as gayâ and marveled, âHis wifeâs mindset is truly respectable.â
Many critics were quick to condemn the singer-songwriter, 33, for âwastingâ Fleurâs time, but as one defender argued, âAny gay individual coming out after 14 years of straight marriage in our homomisic, cisheteronormative society is not inherently an abuser that wasted years of their partnerâs life.â
Those who have followed Calebâs journey know he was raised in a hyper-religious family and struggled with anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, eating disorders and substance abuse.
After leaving the band Attack Attack!, the vocalist formed Beartooth, whose early music focused on mental health struggles and personal demons.
But in February, the group released a track titled âFree,â on which Caleb sings, âThereâs nobody else Iâd rather be, so what the fâk is stopping me?â
He previously described the single as âthe start of the next chapter of [his] music and [his] life,â elaborating, âThis song shows a glimpse of what is to come from the next Beartooth album, which is the most honest depiction of my soul I will most likely ever make.â
Fans picked up what he was putting down and flooded the comments section of the trackâs music video with positivity.
âHearing Beartoothâs first song talking about dealing with alcoholism to hearing this now is really invigorating,â one person remarked beneath the visual.
â2016: I just wanna live free! 2026: Iâm free! Such a huge difference in 10 years, so proud of you Caleb â€ïž,â another supporter echoed.
âGood for him! Congratulations for being so brave and open!!â someone else chimed in, with yet another commenter adding, âIâm happy that Caleb seems to be healing and that he is feeling so comfortable with himself.â
âThe self love and confidence is beautiful. Iâm so happy to see him expressing himself. Been here since the beginning, not going anywhere anytime soon! đ€đ€,â one particular day-one exclaimed, as someone else praised the musician for his commitment to âbeing the happiest version of himself!â
As for Calebâs bandmatesâ reaction to the news, Beartooth bassist Oshie Bichar has publicly offered his pal support.
