Anya Taylor-Joy makes rare comments about married life with husband Malcolm McRae

Anya Taylor-Joy said being married to her husband, Malcolm McRae, makes her more fearless.

The actress, 30, gave rare comments about her musician husband — whom she married in April 2022 — in an interview with Elle UK published Tuesday.

“I don’t want to sound smug, but I love him so much,” she gushed. “To have a best friend who goes through life with you — it has given me a sense of security that I didn’t really ever dream about.”

“It wasn’t something that was on my list,” she continued. “Now that I have it, I just feel emboldened to take more risks because I know I’ve got something really nutritive and solid and healthy and so f–king fun.”

She added, “I laugh, like, 90% of the time.”

As for how the two stay connected despite their busy schedules, the “Queen’s Gambit” star said they check in with each other every morning — though it’s not always easy.

“Malc’s got a dumb phone,” she said. “And I’ve kind of been offline for a while.”

Taylor-Joy noted that consciously stepping back from social media has been positive for her mental health.

“I do sometimes feel like I don’t know what’s going on, but I think it’s so nice to be fully present,” she shared of the trade-off.

Taylor-Joy and McRae, 32, started dating in 2021 after meeting at a music studio. They eloped in New Orleans on April Fools’ Day in 2022.

The actress and the musician — who’s a member of the band More* — tied the knot in an intimate courthouse wedding before she jetted off to Australia to film “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” Page Six exclusively reported at the time.

The glam couple later said “I do” for the second time during a star-studded wedding in Venice, Italy, in October 2023. They got married at the historic Palazzo Pisani Moretta, a 15th-century palace, on the Grand Canal.

The VIP guest list included Cara Delevingne, Julia Garner, and Nicolas Hoult, as well as Miles Teller and his wife, Keleigh.

The “Emma” actress explained why they secretly married before having a larger ceremony in her interview with Elle published in May 2024.

“We’re just real romantics,” she said, also sharing that she was “completely and utterly in love.”

“We were born on the same day. And we wanted to make sure that our first experience was something that was completely for us. So we eloped in New Orleans with our two best friends and had the time of our lives.”

She added, “It was magical. But I’m lucky to say that the second experience — with all of our families —was so beyond beautiful, and I just feel very, very lucky.”
