Anna Faris opened up about how work got her through her divorce from Chris Pratt after eight years of marriage.
âI was feeling sad,â the actress recounted about the split in a Variety profile published Saturday, before noting that producing her podcast âAnna Faris Is Unqualified,â âhelped a lotâ during that time.
Faris, 49, and Pratt, 46, tied the knot in 2009 before welcoming son Jack, now ,13, in 2012.
The pair divorced in 2018.
âIâm lucky that at that time I had my podcast,â the âScary Movieâ star explained. âI wanted, like, four people to listen and to build my own secret community. I wanted an avenue outside of Hollywood as a way to connect with people.â
Despite having âa constant desire to connect with people,â Faris admitted she âdidnât disclose a lot on the podcast,â but felt like she could if she âneeded to.â
âIt made me think, âI know I could be happy if Iâm writing because Iâve always loved that, and maybe thatâs an avenue to make money,ââ the âHouse Bunnyâ actress continued.
At that time, Faris was âthinking of a version of retirement.â
Now, âthe opportunities are more bountiful than theyâve ever been!â
âIâm just overwhelmed with gratitude,â Faris confessed. âWhen people see me, they usually smile and say, âOh, I love âThe House Bunnyâ or âOh, I love âScary Moviâeâ or âMomâ helped me through that hard time.ââ
Faris told the outlet, that while she had âenough gumption, enough of a coreâ to get through her divorce and the chatter of Hollywood, she would be ânaĂŻveâ to think that being in the spotlight for 26 years didnât âshapeâ who she is.
âBut, fâk the scrutiny,â Faris remarked.
Meanwhile, the âHot Chickâ actress did share a deeper look into what made her marriage fail during a 2021 episode of her podcast.
Faris told guest Gwyneth Paltrow that her past two husbands â she was previously married to Ben Indra from 2004 to 2008 â were actors, and they didnât do âa great job of eliminating competitiveness.â
âOr at least I didnât, being a proud person, and not wanting to reveal vulnerability,â she added.
However, after their split, both Faris and Pratt found love again.
The âParks and Recreationâ star married Katherine Schwarzenegger in 2019 and the couple shares kids, Lyla, 5, Eloise, 4, and Ford, 1.
For her part, Faris tied the knot with Michael Barrett in 2021.
