The Lincoln Lawyer, which has consistently garnered incredibly high viewing numbers throughout its four-season run, will come to an end after the fifth season, as showrunners and executive producers Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez announced.
The Netflix series is currently filming its final season in Los Angeles, and the story will be based on the seventh book in Michael Connellyâs The Lincoln Lawyer series, Resurrection Walk. Ted and Dailyn shared in a statement that while closing the door on the hit show was âbittersweetâ, his team would deliver a âsatisfying endingâ for the fans.Â
âAll good things must come to an end, but thankfully, sometimes how they come to an end is up to us,â the statement began. âFrom the very beginning, the mission was always not only to tell the story of Mickey Haller and his compatriots, but also to give that story a proper conclusion.â
âAnd while it is of course bittersweet, itâs also an amazing opportunity to bring this adventure to a close and perhaps chart a new course for some of our characters into the future,â they said. âWe are immensely grateful to Netflix and A+E Studios for the opportunity to land this plane the right way. But most of all, we are grateful to the fans all around the world for watching and supporting the show.âÂ
âWe promise you, we are right now building a final season that will provide the satisfying finale Mickey Haller deserves. We canât wait to share it with you!â
The showâs fifth season will welcome a bevy of new faces, including Nate Corddry, Jimmy Finch, Tricia Helfer, Amy Aquino and Angela Trimbur. They will join The Lincoln Lawyer stars Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Becki Newton, Jazz Raycole, Angus Sampson and Cobie Smulders.Â
Ted later reshared his statement to Instagram and teased that fans could expect some âsurprisesâ in the upcoming season. âIâll let the statement speak for itself. All I can say is thank you to our wonderful fans around the world for watching and letting us into your lives!â he said.
âI am so proud of the show and in the midst of shooting a final season that will give Mickey Haller a proper and satisfying conclusion (for now at least!). And who knows what other surprises the future may hold for these characters?âÂ
âCanât quite believe it. So grateful I had a whole season with all of you!!â commented Constance Zimmer, who portrayed Dana Berg in season four of the series. Manuel reshared Tedâs story on his social media, yet did not comment on the big news.Â
Dailyn also took to social media to share her thoughts on the showâs approaching finale. âAll good things must come to an end. Very bittersweet news. So happy we got five seasons but sad to say goodbye to Mickey Haller,â she wrote.Â
âIâm proud of our work, and Iâm proud of what I was able to contribute to the history of Latino representation in TV. Thanks to all the fans.â The showâs fifth season will follow attorney Mickey Haller as he grapples with the introduction of a new family member, played by Cobie Smulders, who asks him for help in freeing a wrongfully convicted woman.Â
