Itâs been an agonising wait for UK fans of From, Prime Videoâs hit horror series, with the series returning to the platform on Thursday, several weeks after American viewers were able to binge the show.
The show first started airing back in 2022 and follows the residents of a bizarre town that doesnât allow anyone to escape once theyâve entered its borders. Making matters worse, a host of nightmarish creatures patrol the town during nighttime.
In its official release for the showâs fourth season, Prime teased: âIn Season Four, the closer the residents of town get to the answers they seek, the more terrifying their search becomes. Who is the Man in Yellow, and what does he want? Will Jade and Tabithaâs revelation be the key to finally going home?
âHow much longer can Boyd hold the town together, even as his body and mind are falling apart? And what role will the townâs most recent arrival play in the events to come? Season Four will open doors that some in town will end up wishing had remained closed.â
Fromâs reviews
As with any long-running series, fans have been a bit divided on the latest season of the show, but most have been showering it with praise. One enthused: âIf you are a fan of high-stakes horror and âpuzzle-boxâ mysteries, From is an absolute must-watch. From the very first episode, the show creates an atmosphere of pure dread that never lets up.
âWhat makes it so amazing is how it balances genuine, terrifying horror with a deep mystery that keeps you theorizing for days. The concept of a town you canât leave is chilling enough, but the creatures and the ârulesâ of the world make it truly unique. The acting is top-tier (Harold Perrineau is incredible), and every episode leaves you desperate for answers. Itâs dark, unpredictable, and easily one of the most creative series Iâve seen in years. If you havenât started it yet, do yourself a favor and dive inâjust make sure youâre inside before sundown.â
A second added: âTurn off all the lights and crank up the volume. This series will send chills throughout your body. Itâs cleverly written with solid acting, but the flesh eating wanderers are creepy, spooky, and mesmerizing!â
However, one negative review read: âPointless filler season, too slow and too bad,â and a second complained: âSeason 1 was peak simple concept with amazing horror, starting from season 3 itâs just more and more questions with no answers and then each episode is ANOTHER question and guess what itâs topped off with a cliffhanger and the cliffhanger will NOT be addressed in the next episode.â
Meanwhile, Brian Tallerico said on Roger Ebert.com: âDespite feeling like the writersâ room has as many ideas where all of this is going as the fictional Boyd, From often remains remarkably watchable through the lack of direction. A friend once told me that the main reason he binged LOST was that every episode ended with someone saying, âLook at that over there!â and he had to know how that cliffhanger would be resolved. From has a very similar energy.â
