Kate Middleton was the first royal to wash her hands of the disgraced ex-Prince Andrew.
The Princess of Wales refused to speak to Andrew at family functions and during holidays, Royal author Christopher Andersen told Page Six in a recent exclusive interview.
âShe is the first royal to cut him off, to turn her back on him,â Andersen, whose latest book is called âKate! The Courage, Grace, and Power of the Woman Who Will be Queen,â explained.
She also reportedly barred him from attending her Christmas concert at Westminster Abbey.
âHe asked, through intermediaries, if he could slip in a side door,â Andersen said, adding that he was bluntly told, âNope, we donât want your face on camera.â
Andersen explained that the Princess of Wales had two very good reasons for acting so decisively.
âKate is looking forward,â he opined, noting that she doesnât want the monarchy to be tarnished by tawdry revelations and associations.
âSheâs the wife of a future monarch,â he said, adding that sheâs also the âmother of a future monarch,â Prince George, 12, who is the next in line of succession after his father, William.
Andrew, now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, has had an ignominious fall from grace.
He was stripped of his royal titles by his brother, King Charles, in October 2025, for his friendship with the late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein and the alleged rape of Epsteinâs sex-trafficking victim, Virginia Giuffre.
âTheir Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse,â the statement concluded, making it clear that Prince William and his wife supported the decision.
The disgraced royal has long denied the claim but paid millions out to Giuffre to settle a civil lawsuit. Sadly, she died by suicide in 2025.
Recently published emails reveal that Andrew stayed in contact with Epstein years after he alleged to have cut off ties with him.
Earlier this year, Andrew was arrested on his 66th birthday on suspicion of misconduct in public office for allegedly sharing confidential trade information with Epstein.
The author of âThe King: The Life of King Charles IIIâ also says that William and Kate both pressured the King to strip Andrew of his titles. The Prince and Princess of Wales studiously attempted to ignore Andrew when he tried to engage them in conversation at the Duchess of Kentâs Requiem Mass service in September 2025.
A spokesperson for the royal couple did not respond to Page Sixâs request for comment.
