TV is about to get a whole lot hotter, and as temperatures soar outside, on the box, reboots are all the rage with some golden oldies set to return featuring new casts and scorching storylines to rival the scenes that made them famous in the first place.

Spanning the decades, fans of 90s comedies will be just as satisfied as 70s viewers, as the choice of binge-worthy series will be cross-generational.

From medical sitcoms to heartwarming period dramas and horrific cult-classics, as soon as the sun returns, television lovers will be rolling in options come June.

Here’s a list of the biggest TV reboots due to light up screens this summertime…

Scrubs

Following its 2001 debut, the medical comedy-drama starring Zach Braff, Scrubs, quickly became the show everyone was talking about.

After nine seasons, producers revealed the show would be coming to an end, and in 2010, the final episode aired. Despite rumours suggesting a reboot was scheduled for 2024, we have not seen or heard anything from the series since it concluded – until now.

The tenth season made its return in 2026 and featured several core cast members, including Zach as his beloved character J.D., alongside Donald Faison, as Dr. Christopher Turk, and Sarah Chalke.

The series that made everyone’s favourite presenter duo, Ant and Dec, famous, Byker Grove, will relive its heyday in 2026.

Playing PJ and Duncan, the BBC teen drama originally aired in the late 80s and early 90s, before coming to a devastating close in 2006.

Ant and Dec have previously confired that a new version of the series was in the works under the title Byker and that it would return to screens, they just simply did not know when.

“The show is still ongoing, it is still in development. We are currently looking at cast and looking at story arcs,” they explained at the NTAs, according to the Daily Express.

The duo continued: “It is taking longer than normal entertainment television as we are used to things being on screen quickly. We are like ‘come on let’s get it over with”.

All Creatures Great and Small

As one of Channel 5’s most successful series, it is perhaps no surprise that All Creatures Great and Small is returning to screens for a second run at the ratings game.

Based on James Herriot’s books detailing his life as a vet in rural Yorkshire, season seven of the series is expected to carry on from where it left off during the 2025 festive special.

A date has not been set for its release, but back in February, Samuel West, who plays Siegfried Farnon, revealed to his followers that production was well underway.

Arguably the most highly anticipated reboot, the red swimsuits are back and better than ever, just in time for the hottest months of the year.

Replacing Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff, a stellar cast comprising new age stars such as Brooks Nader, Shay Mitchell, and TikToker Noah Beck are taking to the beach to save the lives of Californians.

Airing on Fox, the network revealed its new series would feature “all the adrenaline-fuelled rescues, tangled relationships, complicated chemistry and beachside heroics that defined the original”.

Malcolm in the Middle

A 2000s classic, the chaotic Wilkersons are set to return to bring more dysfunctional family drama to screens this year.

The American sitcom premiered two decades ago and starred Frankie Muniz in the lead role as Malcolm and Breaking Bad actor Bryan Cranston as his father.

Airing as a new four-part spin-off series, most of the main cast are returning to their beloved roles, including Christopher Materson and Just Berfield as older brothers Francis and Reese.

The upcoming instalment of the cult classic will be called Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair, and will be available to watch in the UK on Disney+.
