A suspect was identified by the Pima County Sheriffâs Department after an alleged incident occurred on May 29, less than seven miles from where Nancy Guthrie went missing from her home in Tucson, Arizona, on February 1.Â
A woman has been named by authorities as being wanted in connection with an alleged kidnapping and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, with the department telling locals to âbe on the lookoutâ for the suspect.Â
While details of the alleged incident have been kept under wraps, it occurred 6.8 miles from Nancyâs home, and a $1,000 reward has been posted for information leading to the suspectâs arrest. There is no indication that the two cases are at all linked.Â
This comes more than four months after Nancy, who is the elderly mother of Today star Savannah Guthrie, was taken from her home in Tucson in the early morning hours of February 1.Â
She had spent time with her daughter, Annie Guthrie, and her son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, the previous night, and was dropped home just before 10 p.m. Nancyâs doorbell camera was disconnected around 1:47 a.m. on February 1, and her pacemaker app disconnected from her device around 2:28 a.m.
Authorities were alerted of her disappearance around midday on February 1, when she failed to turn up to her virtual church service. They found blood droplets on her front porch, and Nancyâs daily medication had been left behind, sparking concerns for her health.Â
Police have arrested no suspects thus far, and have not revealed any leading theories as to what may have occurred in Nancyâs home. However, a major breakthrough in the case came in February, when the FBI released doorbell camera footage showing a masked individual tampering with the doorbell device at an earlier date. The individual wore a balaclava, gloves, and a backpack and carried a gun.Â

Savannah returned to work on the Today show in April after spending months in Arizona assisting authorities with the case. The 54-year-old got candid about coming back to NYC amid her motherâs disappearance in an emotional confession on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle on Monday.
âItâs really hard to come back,â she revealed. âIâve been trying so hard to hold it together, and I promise I will.â
âIâm happy to be back,â Savannah continued. âItâs like the two hours of my day â itâs not that Iâm not thinking about it, because I am â but itâs something to do. It brings me a lot of joy to be with everybody. But no, itâs not easy.â
The journalist added that coming to work was âa little respiteâ as her mom wouldâve wanted her to continue with her life. âI just felt like, what else should I do? And my mom wouldâve said the same, like, âHoney, just keep going, just keep going.â And so, I am.â
âI know maybe people wonder like, âWhatâs going on? How is she able to do that job? Is she not thinking about it, did she forget?â No, never. Never,â Savannah concluded.Â
