The pair represented the PGA committee to introduce a brand new, revamped model of the PGA Tour competitive structure. While it had been initially announced that Tiger would deliver remarks, it was unclear whether those would be sent through a representative or he’d appear in person.

The dad-of-two took an extended break from the public eye and the sport after the crash in late March, dedicating himself to caring for his health, reportedly entering a rehabilitation facility in Switzerland.

He was sighted touching back down in Florida earlier this month after several weeks at his recovery program, apparently to aid in the care for his girlfriend Vanessa Trump, who shared her breast cancer diagnosis in May.

The PGA Tour revamp

Ahead of his appearance, Tiger shared a statement on social media to support the PGA Tour’s new overhaul. “Honored to stand alongside Brian Rolapp today at the Travelers Championship as we announce the PGA Tour’s new model for 2028 and beyond,” he penned.

“This is an exciting moment for the game of golf. It has been a privilege to lead the Future Competition Committee and I am proud of the work we have done to build the best version of the PGA TOUR for future generations of players and fans.”

In a separate statement shared ahead of the conference, he reiterated: “From the beginning, the committee’s focus was on delivering a better experience for our fans, while creating a model that best sets up the tour, its players and its partners for long-term success and stability.”

During the actual conference, Tiger, wearing a charcoal gray-toned suit with a blue tie, appeared to be in good spirits, although spoke more solemnly. “This work was never about any one player or person,” he said while up on stage, per video shared by the Golf Channel.

“It was about bringing together different perspectives, having honest, hard conversations, and thinking boldly about what is best for the game that we all love.”
