Rod Stewart gave fans a scare during his latest concert after appearing to struggle onstage and pausing his performance to use oxygen.

The 81-year-old singer was performing at Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre in West Valley City on Friday, June 19, 2026 when he appeared visibly uncomfortable and leaned forward during the set.

According to TMZ, staff brought an oxygen tank to the stage after Rod doubled over, with video obtained by the outlet showing the singer taking a moment to steady himself before receiving assistance.

The music icon later addressed the audience directly, telling the crowd that he had nearly fainted, while still managing to crack a few jokes to lighten the mood.

Rather than ending the show early, Rod returned to the stage and completed the performance while seated in a chair – a determined moment from the famously energetic frontman, who has spent decades sprinting across stages, kicking footballs into the crowd and delivering his biggest hits with his trademark raspy voice.

The frightening moment comes after a difficult few weeks for the ‘Maggie May’ singer. Earlier this month, Rod announced that several dates from his Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace would be moved after doctors advised him to take additional time off while recovering from the flu.

Soon after, he cancelled four shows and postponed two more dates across Nevada and California as he continued to deal with health issues.

“So sorry, my friends. I’m devastated and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience to my fans,” he wrote in a message shared on Instagram at the time. “I’ll be back on stage and we’ll see you soon – Sir Rod.”

A later statement from his team confirmed that he had been diagnosed with an acute upper respiratory infection that had resulted in laryngitis.

Rod also faced some backlash after cancelling a California concert shortly before showtime, then travelling to Boston hours later to watch Scotland play in the World Cup with his sons. He later explained that treatment had helped him feel better physically, but his voice was still not strong enough for him to perform.

The singer has always been candid about the physical demands of touring, particularly as he continues to perform a packed schedule in his eighties.

Rod is currently travelling across the US with his One Last Time Tour, which celebrates a career spanning more than six decades. From Faces and ‘Stay With Me’ to solo classics including ‘Sailing,’ and ‘Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?’, he remains one of Britain’s most recognisable and enduring performers.
