Robert De Niro, 82, pictured on ultra-rare date night with partner Tiffany Chen, 46

Hollywood star Robert De Niro, 82, looked loved-up in New York on Monday for an ultra-rare date night with his partner of five years, Tiffany Chen, who is 35 years his junior.

The low-profile couple – who are 82 and 46 respectively and share three-year-old daughter Gia – were pictured walking hand in hand as they arrived for the annual star-studded Chanel Tribeca Festival Artists Dinner on 8 June alongside A-list guests Katie Holmes, Billy Crystal and Meryl Streep’s actress daughter Grace Gummer. 

Tiffany, who is a martial arts instructor, got glammed up for the night in a stylish little black dress from Dubai-based Lebanese designer Dima Ayad. The gorgeous asymmetrical one-shoulder dress featured a draped silhouette with woven panels on the skirt and sleeve. Tiffany complemented her evening attire with a statement gold bracelet and her hair slicked back in a sleek ponytail. 

Robert coordinated with his partner in a black jacket over a grey dress shirt and trousers. The long-time couple and parents smiled for photos together on the red carpet before heading inside for the dinner portion of the evening. 

Robert and Tiffany’s relationship

After first meeting on the set of Robert’s 2015 film The Intern, in which Tiffany played a tai chi instructor, the couple welcomed a daughter together in April 2023. Robert and Tiffany’s daughter Gia is the Hollywood actor’s seventh and youngest child.

The family of three are believed to be living in Robert’s $1.5m New York estate, which he purchased back in 1997. The property features a 2,222-square-foot house and boasts six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and a converted barn, as well as a ski slope and a tennis court on the private grounds. 

While the actor is notoriously private about his relationship, he shared rare insight into fatherhood in a 2023 interview with The Guardian. “It doesn’t get easier,” the star admitted. “It is what it is. It’s OK. I mean, I don’t do the heavy lifting. I’m there, I support my girlfriend. But she does the work. And we have help, which is so important.”

Star-studded Chanel event

The annual Chanel dinner on Monday night was stacked with A-list guests who arrived in their most glamorous attire. 

Hollywood darling Katie Holmes looked effortlessly elegant in head-to-toe Chanel, wearing a sleeveless tank top tucked into a pair of timeless black trousers by the luxury designer. The Dawson’s Creek star’s sleek shoulder-length hair was tucked behind her ears in photos to show off a pair of statement dangle earrings. 

The little black dress was a clear winner of the night. Love Story actress Sarah Pidgeon wowed in a leather mini dress while Daisy Jones and The Six star Camila Morrone stunned in a flattering, silky halter neck gown. Meryl Streep’s daughter Grace Gummer and director Sofia Coppola also opted for timeless black dresses for the occasion.
