Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Philippe reunite for son’s special milestone

Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe reunited over the weekend to celebrate a major family milestone as their son, Deacon Phillippe, graduated from New York University’s prestigious Tisch School of the Arts.

The 22-year-old proudly shared a series of candid snaps from the celebrations on Instagram after officially receiving his degree during Friday’s ceremony at New York City’s iconic Radio City Music Hall.

Among the heartwarming family photos were sweet moments with both of his famous parents, who came together to support their son despite their split nearly two decades ago.

One standout image showed Deacon posing in his purple graduation gown and gold stole beside Reese, while another captured a relaxed moment with Ryan and Jim Toth inside a New York restaurant.

Reese could not hide her excitement over her son’s achievement, later sharing her own emotional tribute on social media.

“After four years of hard work, long days, endless papers and classes, working with the greatest teachers and making new friends… My wonderful son graduated from @nyutisch!” the Legally Blonde star wrote.

“I’m so proud of you @deaconphillippe!” Deacon sweetly replied: “Love you mama!”

The Oscar-winning actress also reunited with her Big Little Lies co-star and producer Laura Dern, who delivered the commencement speech during the graduation ceremony.

Also celebrating in New York was Deacon’s older sister, Ava Phillippe, who looked chic in a white mini dress as she supported her younger brother.

“A true scholar! With the paper to prove it! Proud of you!” Ava commented beneath Deacon’s post.

Ryan also appeared to be soaking up the proud dad moment, reposting images of the graduate and sharing glimpses from the special day with followers.

The Cruel Intentions actor looked relaxed in casual attire while spending time with Deacon and loved ones after the ceremony.

Fans were quick to comment on how grown-up Deacon looked, with many noting his striking resemblance to both parents.

The graduate’s 13-year-old half-brother, Tennessee Toth, even got in on the fun, trying on Deacon’s graduation cap in one of the candid family snaps.

Deacon is already carving out his own path in Hollywood and music following in the footsteps of his famous parents. The aspiring actor and musician released his debut album, A New Earth, in 2023 and is steadily building his acting résumé.

He is next set to appear in Frankie Shaw’s upcoming heist comedy 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank alongside Liam Neeson, Teresa Palmer and Jim Sturgess.

Despite their split, the former couple have remained committed co-parents to Ava and Deacon, frequently coming together for important family moments over the years.
