Princess Madeleine of Sweden went through her mother Queen Silvia’s glamorous wardrobe for a special celebration in Stockholm on 13 June.
King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia marked their golden wedding anniversary with a concert at the Royal Opera House on Saturday – and for the occasion, their daughter Madeleine honoured Silvia by borrowing one of her most beautiful vintage gowns from 21 years ago.
Madeleine, 44, was a vision in a flattering floral dress first worn by Silvia in 2005 while attending the anniversary celebrations alongside her long-time husband, Christopher O’Neill. The sleeveless dress featured a large pink floral print and a V-neckline with a breezy skirt that draped lower at the back.
The royal teamed her evening attire with rhinestone heels from Zara and the ‘Adelina Wivker Clutch’ in green by luxury brand Aerin, as identified by Royal Fashion Police on Instagram. Her hair was curled to perfection and swept over her back to reveal a pair of statement pink chandelier earrings from Swedish jeweller Caroline Svedbom.
A royal re-wear
Queen Silvia previously wore the floral dress for a gala dinner hosted at Stockholm Palace two decades ago. The Queen was pictured arriving for the Norway state banquet alongside Harald V of Norway, who attended with his wife, Queen Sonja, and their son, Crown Prince Haakon.
Silvia looked regal with a glittering tiara atop her hair, which was styled in glamorous curls which fell above her shoulders.
As for her jewellery, the royal wore strands of pearls at her neckline and a matching pearl bracelet. She completed her evening attire with teardrop earrings.
The royal couple’s anniversary
King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia, who tied the knot on 19 June, 1976, are celebrating 50 years of marriage in 2026.
On Saturday, 13 June, the royal couple marked their special anniversary with a celebration in Stockholm. The pair attended the Te Deum thanksgiving service at the Royal Chapel and waved to crowds who had gathered on the streets from a horse-drawn carriage.
After making a joint balcony appearance, the royal couple boarded the Royal Barge Vasaorden. Silvia looked radiant in a red tweed dress and matching pillbox hat for the day while her husband was formal in a suit and tie.
The couple finished their celebratory day with a concert at the opera followed by a dance at the Royal Palace. They wore their most glamorous attire for the evening as Silvia stunned in a pink gown with a sparkling long-sleeved top while King Carl dressed up for the black tie occasion with a bow tie.
