Princess Dianaâs niece Lady Kitty Spencer looked like she belonged in the Louvre on a recent red carpet while wearing a spectacular designer dress with a 200-year history. Earl Charles Spencerâs eldest daughter, 35, was a work of art in Dolce and Gabbana at the annual Monaco Rose Ball on 21 March â and her frock wasnât the only show-stopping part of the look.
The royal turned heads in an encrusted dress from the designerâs Alta Moda collection, embroidered with coral, crystal, and pearl for an intricate finish on the bodice. While the gown itself was sleeveless, Kitty added a pop of colour with red feather-like accessories fastened to her wrists as makeshift sleeves, which she wore on the red carpet alongside a plethora of royals, including Princess Charlene and Prince Albert of Monaco.Â
Famous 18th century inspiration
The skirt of the dress was embroidered all over to create an homage to French Neoclassical artist JacquesâLouis Davidâs 1788 painting titled, âThe Loves of Paris and Helenâ. A replica of the historic 18th century work, which depicts Helen of Troy and Paris from Greek mythology, wrapped all the way around the skirt and fell in pleats to the floor.Â
Kitty described the gown as a âwork of artâ as she shared more pictures of her wearing it throughout the night on Instagram.
Spectacular jewellery
Kitty had her hair fashioned in a glamorous updo for the evening to show off a pair of statement earrings and a matching choker necklace, which Royal Fashion Police identified as being from Dolce and Gabbanaâs Alta Moda collection. The eye-catching pieces featured floral motifs, different jewels and golden details throughout.Â
The royal finished off her evening look with soft makeup and gold embroidered heels that were obscured by her full skirt on the red carpet. Kittyâs look for the ball, which was themed âGalaxy Rose Ballâ with guests arriving in silver and space-inspired ensembles, was simply gorgeous and otherworldly.Â
Royals dress for âgalacticâ ball
Princess Charlene of Monaco was right on theme for the occasion in a striking silver Elie Saab gown with a sweeping cape design on one side, as identified by Royal Fashion Police. The royalâs blonde locks were styled in a wavy updo, which showcased her diamond earrings marvellously.Â
Charlene attended the ball with her husband, Prince Albert, and her sister-in-law, Princess Caroline of Monaco, who looked stylish in a silver jacket. Meanwhile, Princess Alexandra of Hanover arrived for the event in a reflective blue gown with a sheer overdress tied at the waist.
