The Duke of Sussex is said to be holding out hope for a reunion between his father, King Charles, and his two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, according to a new report.

On Saturday, The Times reported that Prince Harry, 41, hopes to be invited by the King, 77, to spend some “family time” with his wife, the Duchess of Sussex, 44,  and children, in Norfolk this summer.

When did Charles last see Archie and Lili?

The reunion would break a no-contact streak between the King and his two grandchildren, whom he last saw in June 2022, when Harry and Meghan travelled to the UK for the late Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee.

Meanwhile, Meghan Markle has not visited the UK since September 2022, when she joined Harry in attending Queen Elizabeth’s funeral. The Times reported that those close to Harry said he would welcome an invitation to Sandringham, Charles’ sprawling state in Norfolk.

It is on the Sandringham estate that the Prince and Princess of Wales also have their country home, Anmer Hall. The deciding factor is said to be security.

Why is Harry delaying the decision?

The Duke is believed to be waiting for the final call on his security in the UK, after repeatedly saying he does not feel it is safe to bring his family home unless he has armed police protection.

Harry and Meghan lost this right after stepping down from their working royal duties and relocating to the US in 2020.

Harry last saw his father on 10 September 2025, when they met for a private tea at Clarence House in London, Charles’ residence. The meeting, which reportedly lasted 55 minutes, coincided with Harry visiting the Centre for Blast Injury Studies at Imperial College London.

The King’s busy schedule

The report of a potential reunion between Charles and his youngest son came after the monarch announced a slew of Buckingham Palace Garden Parties for later this year, one of which falls on Prince Archie’s seventh birthday.
