Olivia Wilde has finally opened up about her alleged âfeudâ with British actress Florence Pugh.
The pair starred in Donât Worry Darling, the 2022 film also directed by the American filmmaker and actress, alongside Harry Styles, who became romantically involved with Olivia.
A Vulture report at the time suggested that the actresses engaged in what was described as a âscreaming matchâ over the relationship, which became public amid the release of the film, as well as âunexplained absencesâ from Olivia.
Now, in an interview with the Cut, the director has addressed the feud, insisting that claims of a âscreaming matchâ were untrue.
âIâve never had a screaming match on my set. I was never not available on set. I wanted to be like, âNone of this is true.â
âI was told, âDonât say a [expletive] word. Just go out there and smile,â I resent that, but it taught me itâs not the way I want to handle things.â
It appeared there was tension between the co-stars amid the filmâs press tour, during which Florence and Olivia were seen keeping their distance.Â
The Little Women star also didnât attend the cast press conference at the Venice Film Festival, where the film was entered in competition, which at the time was reported to be due to filming Dune.Â
The actress has never publicly addressed the alleged feud with Olivia. She did, however, post a photo of the cast appearing on the red carpet at the film festival and said that she would âalways be gratefulâ for her time on the film.
What was said about the feud previously?
While Olivia never addressed the claims of a âscreaming matchâ directly, she did allude to the fact that there was no tension between her and Florence, and that claims of tension were untrue.
âHaving been a known figure for a while,â she told Elle magazine, âmakes me well-equipped to have a Teflon exterior. But it also means that youâre under a different kind of microscope.â
âItâs brought my attention to the media and how it pits women against one another. It is shocking to see so many untruths about yourself traded as fact.â
