Netflix viewers are hooked on Man on Fire, the streamerâs latest gripping crime drama to drop over the weekend.
Starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in the central role of John Creasy, a Special Forces soldier looking for a fresh start, the seven-part series follows his struggle to confront a complex past. Only by facing his personal demons can he truly turn over a new leaf.
Based on A.J. Quinnellâs 1980s book series, this isnât the first time the franchise has been adapted. In 2004, Denzel Washington brought Creasy to life in Tony Scottâs film, while Scott Glenn also stepped into the role in an earlier 1987 version.
Netflixâs series is written and created by Kyle Killen (Halo, The Beaver), while Steven Caple Jr. (Creed II) directs the first two episodes. Told over eight high-octane episodes, the series centres on former Special Forces mercenary John Creasy, once a highly skilled operative known for surviving even the most extreme situations.
The synopsis continues: âHowever, John is now battling extreme PTSD and personal demons. As he attempts a fresh start, heâll find himself back in the (metaphorical) fire and fighting harder than ever.â

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Watchmen) leads the series as John Creasy, while Billie Boullet (World-Breaker) plays Poe Rayburn.
They are joined by Alice Braga (City of God) as Valeria Melo, Scoot McNairy (True Detective) as Henry Tappan, and Bobby Cannavale (The Watcher) as Paul Rayburn.
