Melanie Griffith broke her silence on her daughter Dakota Johnson’s romance with singer Role Model on Sunday.
In a video posted to DeuxMoi’s Instagram account, the mother of four was asked by paparazzi if Dakota and Role Model (whose real name is Tucker Pillsbury) have her seal of approval. “Of course [they] do,” she responded, before adding: “I think he’s fabulous.”
The lovebirds were first spotted out and about in December 2025 at dinner with friends. Since then, they have made frequent public outings together, including a date night on Sunday, April 5.
The 36-year-old star split from her fiancé, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, in mid-2025 after an eight-year on-and-off-again relationship. The duo were incredibly private about their romance, yet Dakota revealed her stance on marriage and divorce in an interview with the Los Angeles Times just before news of her separation broke.
“For a long time we’ve all been so quick to judge relationships or how they should happen, how they should exist in the world,” she said. “When people should get married. Divorce is bad. All these things that actually, if you think about it, why is divorce bad? Why do people have to get married or at a certain age or only once? Why? It doesn’t matter.”
Meanwhile, Tucker previously dated social media star Emma Chamberlain from 2020 to 2023, with the 28-year-old revealing that they went their separate ways due to his struggles with homesickness.
© Getty“That was the biggest thing – I just became the most homesick I’ve been in my life,” he said on the Zach Sang Show in 2024. “I just wanted to go home and be with my friends and family and have some normalcy. I think that would be very confusing for the other person. Like, ‘Why are you running away from me?'”

His 2024 album Kansas Anymore featured several songs about Emma and their relationship, which she commented on in a video to her fans. “It is interesting. I learned about my own relationship through the music,” she explained.
“I’ve learned truly how, perhaps, people have felt about me through music. [It’s] great, but it’s also kind of weird when you hear more in the music than in real life. It’s like, ‘Really, you feel that way?'”
