Meet Dermot Mulroney’s three children — including rising singer

Born 31 October 1963, the actor first appeared on screen in the ’80s with TV movie Sin of Innocence. Two years later, he had his breakthrough role in 1988’s Sunset and a lead casting as ‘Dirty Steve’ in Young Guns the same year. 

Since then, his star power has only increased and he’s a beloved presence on screen as a heartthrob, action hero or gun-toting western lead. 

It’s as a romantic lead that we love Dermot best, thanks to star roles throughout the ’90s and into the 2000s. He memorably starred opposite Julia Roberts as her ex and best friend, sports journalist Michael. 

Eight years later, he starred in 2005’s The Wedding Date as escort Nick who follows Debra Messing’s Kat to her sister’s wedding as her fake boyfriend. Add in a star role in The Family Stone, and Dermot’s portfolio packs some serious rom-com weight.

Catherine Keener tied the knot with Dermot in 1990, welcoming their son Clyde in 1999 before they separated in 2005 – with their divorce finalised in 2007.

She is a successful actress in her own right, starring in several acclaimed features including Being John Malkovich, comedy classic The 40-Year-Old Virgin and beloved horror Get Out. 

Dermot married for the second time in December 2010. He tied the knot with singer-songwriter Prima Apollinaare, born Tharita Cesaroni, welcoming two daughters with the musician prior to their marriage.

Daughter Mabel was born in 2008 while Sally arrived the following year in 2009. Dermot filed for divorce in 2025 and finalised their separation in January 2026.

Clyde Mulroney is the oldest child of Dermot Mulroney, shared with his first wife Catherine. He is already showing a talent for showbiz, with credits in front of and behind the camera. 

He’s notably worked in the music department for Where the Wild Things Are and it’s clear his love of music is Clyde’s calling. His best known project is the single ‘My Name is Joe’ from the gothic musical Ghost Brothers of Darkland County, dreamed up by Stephen King, John Mellencamp and T Bone Burnett.

Mabel Ray Mulroney is the oldest daughter Dermot shares with his ex-wife Prima, born in 2008. Dermot told The Hollywood News in 2016 that the couple were raising their daughters in Los Angeles, with son Clyde nearby.

It’s clear creativity is an important part of his daughters’ upbringing, with Dermot explaining: “I try to keep arts in front of them, whether it’s music or even just museum trips. I don’t expect anything of them – it’s hard enough for everyone just to get their homework done at night. Let’s just get them through grade school, and then see.”

Born in 2009, Sally is the youngest of Dermot’s three children. While he rarely shares details from his children’s lives, it’s clear that Sally is a keen equestrian and her father couldn’t be prouder.

In May 2025, he posted to his Instagram with the caption: “Spent the weekend just horsin’ around with #Chinchilla and #Franklin and Sally Mulroney currently ranked 4th in the nation World Champion Hunter Rider 3ft and multiple medal winner at #theoaks – helluva season 🏆”.

Son Clyde’s musical talent must come from his dad’s side, as Dermot is keeping busy with brother Kieran in front of the microphone with their country band Jackrabbit. 

He’s also still ever present on screen in action drama series Chicago Fire and Netflix drama The Hunting Wives.
