The Damon Identity.
Matt Damon was mistaken for his âOceanâs Elevenâ co-star Brad Pitt while attending this weekendâs FIFA World Cup Final 2026.
âBrad Pitt also among the fans here,â a commentator told viewers on Sunday as cameras panned to Damon, 55, and his wife, Luciana Barroso, in the stands.
The Fox sportscaster quickly amended, âOh, itâs Matt Damon. Thatâs Matt Damon.â
He blamed the mix-up on âa lot of glare on [the] monitors,â adding, â[I] apologize to both.â
Damon wore a navy blue polo to the sporting event, while his partner, 49, repped Argentina â the team that ultimately lost to Spain â with a jersey and bucket hat.
Social media users poked fun at the confused commentator via X, with a fan quipping that Damon looked like he was âpreparing for his next role as Brad Pitt.â
Others dubbed this a âhuge ego boostâ and âthe best compliment a man can receiveâ as there âare worst [sic] guys to be mistaken for.â
One referenced Damonâs new âOdysseyâ film while joking, âItâs been a hell of a weekend for Matt Damon. He has #1 movie at the box office, got to attend the World Cup Final and just got mistaken for Brad Pitt on the TV broadcast.â
One pointed out that Damon stars as Odysseus in the film, with Pitt acting as Achilles in âTroyâ in 2004, tweeting, âOdysseus being mistaken for Achilles.â
Multiple people noted that âEstonian commentators thought it was Brad Pitt as well.â
Pitt, notably, attended a World Cup game at SoFi Stadium in California earlier this month with girlfriend Ines de Ramon.
The duo watched from a suite alongside Penélope Cruz and husband Javier Bardem on July 10 as Spain beat Belgium.
Pitt and Damon have yet to react to Sundayâs blunder publicly.
The A-list actors have shared the screen multiple times over the years in the âOceanâsâ franchise, with both making cameos in âConfessions of a Dangerous Mindâ in 2002.
