Lady Sarah Chatto joined her fellow royal family members on Tuesday to honour what would have been the late monarch’s 100th birthday.

The artist, who is the daughter of Princess Margaret and David Armstrong-Jones, stepped out alongside the King and Queen and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh to view the final design for the national memorial to Queen Elizabeth II at the British Museum in London.

Echoing the beautifully sunny spring morning, Lady Sarah, 61,  chose a vibrant colour palette of pink and orange for her chosen outfit, wearing a striking orange cardigan over a hot pink shirt, over which she wore a stylish navy blue coat.

Lady Sarah, who is the president of the Royal Ballet School, was all smiles as she departed the British Museum, the visit being just one event to mark the late Queen’s centenary year.

As well as her royal relatives, also on the guest list for the final viewing was  Lord Foster, who won a bid to design the memorial to the King’s late mother, as well as Dame Tracey Emin, Claudia Winkleman, designer Erdem Moralioglu and presenter Martha Kearney, who are all trustees of the British Museum.

Duchess Sophie, 61,  looked spectacular for the outing, stepping onto the famous steps wearing an elegant gown by Gabriela Hearst.

The off-white shirt dress featured what royal fashion fans found to be an equestrian print, making Sophie’s outfit of choice a touching tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II’s lifelong love of horse riding.

Favourite cousin

Lady Sarah’s appearance at the British Museum will have no doubt been warmly received by King Charles, who was visibly delighted to see his relative on Monday when they attended the fashion exhibition of Her Majesty’s clothes at Buckingham Palace.

Despite not being a working royal, Sarah often emulates the royal professionalism and no-nonsense attitude fans see in Princess Anne, making her a true asset to the royal family.
