Kate Beckinsale took to social media to address the criticism surrounding her recent weight loss. On August 8, the 53-year-old reposted several cruel comments she had received on her Instagram Stories before penning a heartfelt response.
The messages came from social media users urging her to gain weight and accusing her of using weight-loss drugs. âYou take a break from Instagram for several months following the death of your mother, delete all of your posts and explain in some considerable detail about why you may have lost weight including the fact that weight loss is one of the very first physical signs of bereavementâŠI think people might be broken,â wrote Kate.
Kate then shared a post addressing her battle with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, an autoimmune disease. âFairly chaotic discussion of mast cell disease and mast cell activation syndrome which more and more doctors are becoming aware of given that a lot of people with long Covid have developed it unfortunately for them- but fortunately for the community,â she wrote in the caption.
âI will forever be grateful to the histamine Queen who was the most generous and unbelievably kind resource for me for both this and when my mother was first diagnosed with cancer and who tragically lost her battle with cancer leaving an enormous and irreplaceable hole in the universe.â
Kate continued: âIf you are experiencing multiple and disparate symptoms after a lifetime or an intense period of trauma plus a virus and suddenly your stomach isnât really right or you are suddenly developing hives, migraines, or vertigo or just being constantly itchy and sneezing all the time where you never did before and foods arenât sitting right with you, or you are exhausted and anxious all the time or your hair is falling out and no real medical reason can be found â all kinds of things from skin symptoms to anaphylaxis please please please google and look up mast cell activation syndrome and find a young Doctor who may well have covered this in medical school to see if you can find relief.â
âThere are many extremely benign medicines that you can take that will control this and help you. And if there are any really good Mast Cell pages, if you come across this post, please drop your links in my comments for people to be able to educate themselves and figure out if that is what has happened to them and how to feel better Much love as always X,â she concluded.Â
Kate Beckinsaleâs motherâs passing
Last July, Kate announced that her mom, Judy Loe, 78, had passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer, and revealed that she was âparalyzedâ with grief. âI donât want to post this. I am only posting this because I have had to register my motherâs death certificate and it will soon become public record,â Kate wrote in the caption.
âShe died the night of July 15th in my arms after immeasurable suffering. I have not picked all the best photos, nor the best videos, because I cannot bear to go through my camera roll yet.â
âI deeply apologize to any of her friends who are finding out this way or through the press, but I cannot go through her phone. I am paralyzed,â she continued.Â
âJude was the compass of my life, the love of my life, my dearest friend. The vastness and huge heart of this tiny woman has touched so many people who love her dearly.â
Judy shared that she had stage four cancer in July 2024, shortly after the death of her husband, Roy Battersby.Â
