Dame Joan Collins, 92, looks so in love with her longtime Valentine and “partner in crime”, husband Percy Gibson, 60, more than two decades into their marriage. On Saturday, the Dynasty actress and her actor husband of nearly 24 years got all dressed up in their most glamorous attire for a very romantic Valentine’s Day outing.
The 92-year-old held her partner’s hand as she gazed lovingly up at him with a striking pink and purple-hued sky backdrop. “Wishing everybody a very [Happy Valentine’s Day],” she captioned the photo with an apt red heart emoji, adding the hashtags ‘lovers’, ‘partners’ and ‘partner in crime’.
Joan slipped on a gorgeous red crossover dress that plunged in a V at the front – but it was her bling that really upped the extravagance of the Valentine’s look. The actress was decked out in diamonds from her sparkling chocker necklace to her matching chandelier earrings and statement ring. She added the perfect Valentine’s pop of red with a bold lipstick and matching nail colour.
Her husband Percy cleaned up well in a white suit jacket and black bowtie as he smiled at the camera. “Sexiest couple ever,” her close friend and The Royals co-star Elizabeth Hurley’s son, Damien Hurley, gushed about the couple in the comments.
Joan and Percy’s enduring romance
Joan tied the knot with her fifth husband, Percy, on 17 February 2002, after meeting two years earlier on a play she worked on in San Francisco. While they don’t have any children together, Percy is a stepfather to Joan’s three children – daughters Tara and Katyana, and son Alexander – from her previous relationships. He is also a step-grandfather to Joan’s four grandchildren.
“I think the secret to a happy marriage is to really support each other. Understand that there will be highs and lows. You won’t always agree about everything, but you need to enjoy each other’s company,” Joan told HELLO! in 2018, calling Percy her “soulmate”.
“Percy is such an amazing man, he is so kind and so caring. People get married on the crest of lust. Once that’s gone, they look and think: ‘What the hell? Who is this person?’ There has to be something else to fall back on. If there isn’t, they start looking.”
She added: “My children just adore him – and the grandchildren too. He’s wonderful with them, extremely patient. He’s always answering SOS calls when one of them has had their computer stolen or dropped their phone in the loo. He somehow manages to sort everything out, even when he’s in a different country.”
Joan’s beauty secrets
Joan is not only a force on the screen but on the red carpet with her youthful glamour. The actress often wears age-defying gowns to go with her signature bold makeup.
“I was born with the happy gene and the energy gene. What makes me happiest is seeing my children happy,” she told HELLO! exclusively about the secret to her youthful appearance.
“Honestly, life makes me happy and I’m very aware of how lucky I am. I’ve worked hard all my life, nobody has given me anything on a plate, but I wake up each morning thinking how fortunate I am. I’m very fit and healthy now – knock on wood – and I try to look after myself.”
