Jennifer Lopez removes tribute to Ben Affleck in post-divorce move

Jennifer Lopez is erasing any trace of her marriage to Ben Affleck, after the pair split in August 2024 and finalized their divorce in January of the following year. The 56-year-old appeared to have altered the couple’s tattoo she had inked in honor of the actor in 2023, as evidenced in a snap she shared on social media from Memorial Day. 

In the photo, Jennifer wrapped her arms around her 18-year-old son, Max, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Marc Anthony, and looked up at him lovingly. The singer sported a flowing white dress with a low-cut back, which revealed the tattoo on the right side of her ribcage.

Jennifer appeared to have blurred out Ben’s name on the infinity design and left her own after their 2024 split. The A-lister got inked in 2023 in honor of Valentine’s Day, and shared the tattoo on social media at the time. 

“Commitment…Happy Valentine’s Day my love,” she wrote in a since-deleted post, followed by an infinity emoji to match the shape of the tattoo. 

Ben had a matching tattoo inked, which featured two arrows crossing each other with the letter “J” above the cross and the letter “B” below. 

Jennifer was not always a fan of Ben’s tattoos, as she previously shared on Watch What Happens Live. “It’s awful!” she said of his back tattoo, inked in the shape of a phoenix.

“I mean, I would tell him that, like, what are you doing? It has too many colors. His tattoos always have too many colors! They shouldn’t be so colorful; you know what I mean? They should be cooler.”

The former couple first met while filming Gigli in 2022, and got engaged before calling it quits in January 2004. They rekindled their relationship in 2021 and tied the knot in July 2022, yet sadly the duo split two years later. 

The “Get on the Floor” singer got candid with Interview about the emotional fallout of their divorce, and whether she regretted the marriage at all.

“Not one second,” she declared. “That doesn’t mean it didn’t almost take me out for good. It almost did. But now, on the other side of it, I think to myself…’That is exactly what I needed. Thank you, God. I’m sorry it took me so long. I’m sorry that you had to do this to me so many times.'”

Ben also shared rare insight into the end of their marriage with GQ. “There’s a tendency to look at breakups and want to identify root causes or something. But honestly…the truth is much more quotidian than probably people would believe or would be interesting,” he explained.

“There’s no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue. The truth is, when you talk to somebody, ‘Hey, what happened?’ Well, there is no, ‘This is what happened.’ It’s just a story about people trying to figure out their lives and relationships in ways that we all sort of normally do.”
