Janet Jackson channelled her late brother Michael Jackson as she attended the BET Awards at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday.
The singer, 60, appeared to take inspiration from Michaelâs style as she sported a black fedora hat along with a matching T-shirt for the evening.
Janet also wore a white pinstripe shirt and cinched her waist with a chunky black belt. She added to her look with dark grey trousers and several chunky silver bracelets.
The hitmaker completed her ensemble for the evening with eye-catching silver earrings and millinery veiling.
Janet, one of nine siblings, was very close to her brother Michael when they were growing up.
Both would go on to have hugely successful solo careers. Janet sold over 100 million records while Michael was dubbed the âKing of Popâ and regarded as one of the most successful entertainers of all time. He died in 2009 from an overdose of propofol administered by his physician.
Janet Jacksonâs reaction to 2026 biopic
Janet âpolitely declinedâ to be portrayed in the 2026 biopic, Michael, which portrays the late superstarâs early life and grossed $977 million at the box office.
âI wish everybody was in the movie,â Janetâs sister LaToya Jackson told Variety at the filmâs Hollywood premiere. âShe was asked, and she kindly declined, so you have to respect her wishes.â
Janet received the ICON Award at the 2025 American Music Awards last May, although she admitted in her acceptance speech that she doesnât see herself as an âicon.â
âI am so so honored. I am so grateful,â she began. âI mean, no disrespect in any way, but I donât consider myself an icon. My family, myself, our dream wasnât ever to be famous. We werenât raised like that.â
She continued: âWe always had a special love for music, dancing, singing, and fame came with the result of hard work and dedication. My story, my familyâs story, is truly an American story. This would have only happened in America.â
Alongside her busy career, Janet is also a doting mother to her nine-year-old son, Eissa, whom she welcomed on January 3, 2017, at age 50, with her then-husband, Wissam Al Mana.Â
The superstar singer is notoriously private about her son; however, she does occasionally share snippets of life at home as a single working mother.
