What is Speak No Evil about?

The film, which is a remake of the 2022 Danish-Dutch film of the same name, follows American couple Ben (Scoot McNairy) and Louise (Mackenzie Davis), who meet eccentric Brits Paddy (James McAvoy) and Ciara (Aisling Franciosi) on an Italian holiday.

After accepting an invitation to spend a weekend with them at their remote farmhouse in the West Country, it quickly becomes clear that the charming hosts have sinister motives.

James McAvoy (Shameless, X-Men: First Class) leads the cast as Paddy.

He’s joined by Mackenzie Davis (Black Mirror), Aisling Franciosi (The Fall), Alix West Lefler (The Good Nurse), Dan Hough (Hollyoaks) and Scoot McNairy (Narcos: Mexico).

What have viewers and critics said about Speak No Evil? 

The film earned high praise from cinema-goers, with many hailing it as “excellent” and “gripping”.

One person wrote on social media: “What a great story and excellent acting. Some scary classic horror tropes used and I was here for it,” while another praised the film’s “excellent mood-building” and “brilliant acting”.

Meanwhile, critics were also full of praise for the thriller. The Guardian awarded the film four stars, praising James McAvoy’s performance in the “red-blooded holiday horror,” while Empire hailed the thriller as a “quality horror-suspense picture” in its four-star review.
