George and Amal Clooney appeared just as in love as ever as they stepped out together at the Chaplin Award Gala at New York City’s Lincoln Center, where the actor was honored with the 51st Chaplin Award in recognition of his significant contribution to cinema.

While George looked dapper in a black tuxedo complete with a bowtie, Amal was stunning in a vibrant fuchsia satin dress with an off-the-shoulder neckline and a dramatic cape-style overlay that draped over her arms.

The dress showcased her toned legs, and she completed the glamorous look with metallic gold pointed heels, a matching gold clutch, and dangling statement earrings.

The human rights lawyer’s brunette locks were styled in a chic ponytail with face-framing tendrils, and she wore a deep pink lip for a touch of glam.

As always, their two young children, Alexander and Ella, were absent from the event, with the pair preferring to keep the twins out of the spotlight for as long as possible.

George and Amal even went as far as to apply for French citizenship – which they were granted in December 2025 – in order to raise their eight-year-olds far from the Hollywood paparazzi.

“I love the French culture, your language, even if I’m still bad at it after 400 days of courses,” George told French radio station RTL. “Here, they don’t take photos of kids. There aren’t any paparazzi hidden at the school gates. That’s number one for us.”

“I would like a place that will allow me to escape from the United States,” the 64-year-old continued. George and Amal purchased a 425-acre former wine estate in southern France in 2021named the Domaine du Canadel, for $8.3 million, and the family of four spend much of their time there.

The property sits just a five-minute drive from Brad Pitt’s vineyard, Chateau Miraval. “We live on a farm in France. A good portion of my life growing up was on a farm, and as a kid, I hated the whole idea of it,” George, who hails from Kentucky, told Esquire

“I felt like they were never going to get a fair shake at life,” he said of their LA upbringing. “France – they kind of don’t [care] about fame. I don’t want them to be walking around worried about paparazzi. I don’t want them being compared to somebody else’s famous kids.”

George and Amal welcomed their twins in June 2017, and the duo have already outpaced their parents when it comes to their language skills. They can speak English, French and Italian fluently, thanks to their upbringing in various European countries.
