Emma Heming celebrated her milestone 50th birthday on Thursday with a bittersweet reflection about how far she had come following her husband Bruce Willisâ diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia (FTD). The mother of two took to Instagram to share a sweet throwback video of Bruce singing âHappy Birthdayâ to her with a comically high voice after inhaling helium from a balloon.Â
Their daughtersâ laughter can be heard in the background as the Die Hard star danced and pulled funny faces. She then included a photo of herself and Bruce taken more recently, which saw them smiling for the camera with party hats on. âToday is my big 5-0. And I have to say, Iâm ready for this new decade and all it has to offer,â she began in the caption.
âMy 40s were heavy, yet Iâm proud of how far Iâve come as a wife, mom, care partner, and advocate. Iâm also proud of the work weâre doing through the Emma & Bruce Willis Fund and what lies ahead. Together, weâre raising awareness of FTD, supporting caregivers, and advancing education and research.â
She continued: âAs I step into this next chapter, my birthday wish is for a future where families facing dementia have more support, resources, less stigma, and every reason to hold onto hope. If youâd like to celebrate this milestone with me, please consider supporting the Fund.â
Emmaâs stepdaughter, Rumer Willis, added a touching comment that read: âWe love you EmâŠthis is such a great video of him,â while her other stepdaughter, Tallulah Willis, wrote: âYou are so strong I love you so much.â Family Ties actress and Emmaâs good friend, Tracy Pollan, chimed in: âHappy birthday!!!!âÂ
The former model shared a photo of slices of birthday cake on her Instagram stories, and an old video of Bruce bringing her cake alongside their girls, Mabel and Evelyn. The couple met in 2007 at the gym and went on to marry two years later, before welcoming Mabel in 2012 and Evelyn in 2014.Â
Bruce was previously married to The Substance star Demi Moore, and they share daughters Rumer, 37, Scout, 34, and Tallulah, 32. The pair have maintained a close friendship since they split in 1998, and Demi has supported Emma and their family throughout Bruceâs battle with FTD.Â

FTD is a progressive brain disease that can affect the personality, behavior and language skills of the patient, and the actor was diagnosed with the illness in 2023. Demi shared the birthday love with Bruceâs wife on Instagram, with the A-lister posting photos of herself opening up a package from Emmaâs brand, Make Time Wellness.Â
âMaking time to celebrate @emmahemingwillis today on her birthday! Congrats on launching @maketimewellness at @target. So proud of you and proud to call you family. You are so loved!â she wrote in the caption, as Emma added in the comment section: âLove to see you Making Time Demi. Love you so much.âÂ
Demi previously opened up about her friendship with Emma and about providing support for their blended family amid Bruceâs illness. âThere is no road map for how to deal with this,â she told Oprah Winfrey. âBeing the ex-wife, even though our family is very connected, is an interesting position.âÂ
âSo much fell on Emma to really figure this whole thing out, and the most beautiful thing was recognizing the importance for caregivers and that they have to take care of themselves,â she continued. âI have so much compassion for Emma.âÂ
âThereâs no way that anybody could have anticipated where this was going to go, and I really think sheâs done a masterful job, she has been so dedicated to forging the right path, sheâs had equal amounts of fear and strength and courage in navigating this.â
