“Don’t Mess With My Man” singer Nivea revealed she was diagnosed with leukemia earlier this year.
On Tuesday’s episode of “Cadillac Chronicles,” the recording artist, 44, shared the news after being asked what she was thankful for.
“Well, first of all, I was diagnosed with leukemia earlier this year, and I’m so grateful to God,” Nivea (born Nivea B. Hamilton) said. “I’ve been going through treatment, and everything is going great so far. And I expect it to continue. Amen, amen, amen.”
Despite battling cancer, the “Danger (Been So Long)” crooner told host Mr. Brian Freeman she is “very grateful for life.”
“It’s so cliché to say you don’t know the time nor the hour, but it’s true and it just helped me put a lot of things in perspective, and I live in gratitude, like, religiously, and I’m just grateful for everything,” Nivea continued.
Leukemia is a cancer of the body’s blood-forming tissues, including the bone marrow and lymphatic system, per the Mayo Clinic.
While there are many types of leukemia that exist, Nivea did not disclose what form she has.
“I’m doing things I wanna do,” she expressed. “I’m definitely back into my music, and I’m going to school for audio engineering. I’ve always wanted to learn how to engineer, and mixing engineering in particular.”
Nivea stressed that she is still “doing all the things” she wants to, which includes “loving on” her kids.
