President Donald Trump is weighing in on the high-profile disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Today show host Savannah Guthrie.

“I think it’s terrible,” Trump, 79, told reporters inside the White House Oval Office on Tuesday, February 3.

“I’m gonna call her later on,” the president added of Savannah, 54. “I think it’s a terrible thing. I always got along very good with Savannah. Very unusual situation, but we’re gonna find out…”

Earlier on Tuesday, the official White House Instagram account shared a post encouraging anyone with information into Nancy’s disappearance to call 911.

Questions still remain after Today show host Savannah Guthrie‘s mother, Nancy Guthrie, was reported missing. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed the news on Sunday, February 1, sharing a missing person report via X. “The search for Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, is ongoing, and authorities are requesting assistance from the public. Anyone with information is urged to contact 911,” the post read.

The White House added, “Our prayers are with the Guthrie family as we hope for Nancy’s safe return home. 🙏”

Nancy, 84, is believed to have disappeared from her home outside Tucson, Arizona, in the early hours of Sunday, February 1. She was last seen on Saturday, January 31, and was reported missing by a family member at around noon on Sunday.

On Monday, February 2, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said the disappearance was being treated as a crime.

“We do in fact have a crime scene. We do in fact have a crime,” Nanos said. “She did not leave on her own. We know that.”

In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly on Monday, Nanos added, “We don’t want anybody to lose hope. But in the same sense, just as there’s hope, there’s also things that point to us that say, ‘This lady’s in danger.’”

“It does have to do with what was described to us about the scene,” he continued. “I’ve been doing this for 50 years. When something doesn’t sit well, it doesn’t sit well.”

Nanos said, “Something unusual at that house occurred that made us go, ‘Wow … something’s wrong here. Something doesn’t fit.’”

Savannah was absent from Monday’s episode of the Today show following her mother’s disappearance, however, anchors Sheinelle Jones and Craig Melvin read out a statement on her behalf.

“We want to get right to what is a deeply personal story for us,” Melvin, 46, said at the top of the program. “Nancy Guthrie, Savannah’s beloved mother, has been reported missing in Arizona.”

Melvin read out a statement from Savannah, which said, “On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers and messages of support. Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom. We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900.”

Savannah shared an emotional Instagram post late Monday night, urging followers to pray for Nancy.

She wrote, “We believe in prayer. We believe in voices raised in unison, in love, in hope. We believe in goodness. We believe in humanity. Above all, we believe in Him. Thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant. Raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment.”

“Bring her home,” Savannah added.
