Celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton previously claimed his highest fee was $100,000, but he was lying.
âIt was $200,000,â he revealed on the âGreat Company with Jamie Longâ podcast this week. âBut I said 100 because I was afraid of what everyone would say. I said it, and then I was scared.â
Appleton, 42, defended the eye-watering figure by explaining that, âthereâs plenty of times I do work for free. Thereâs plenty of times I donât get paid that amount of money.â
Appleton, who tends to Kim Kardashianâs tresses, broke down the sum.
âIt was a lot of traveling, and it was a whole commitment,â he said. âSo when you break it down, itâs not as much. âAlso, 50 percent tax in America â thatâs half. And then your agent takes 20 percent, and your business manager takes five.â
He offered a similar explanation back in January on the âU Up?â podcast, pointing out that his net earnings shrink considerably after taxes and other deductions.
Appleton, who has styled Kardashianâs hair for the Met Gala, recently came under fire from the Skims founder for her 2022 look, when she donned a dress Marilyn Monroe wore and had her hair dyed blond and slicked back.
In a vlog for this yearâs final fitting, Kardashian, 45, reflected on that day
âWe had too much going on. You were doing every family member,â she admonished Appleton and makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic. âWe werenât focused.â
Pulling up a photo, Kardashian deadpanned, âEveryone fâked up here. Letâs just say that.â
As Appleton and Dedivanovic poked fun at each otherâs questionable choices â from eyeliner to hairstyle â Kardashian weighed in: âIt was all about the hair. Iâll fight you on that until the day I die.â
âI think about it once a week,â the reality star confessed.
At the time, Apppleton loved the lighter locks.
âI love a blonde Kim. I think itâs so interesting how a color can change the colors of the clothes you wear and it really changes your makeup. You can really reinvent things,â he told E! News.
