New court documents allege that Cher has cut off her estranged son, Elijah Blue Allman. Elijah, who is asking for a reduction in spousal support payments to his estranged wife Marieangela King, has claimed in the filing that he no longer receives a “recurring gift income” from his mother but “receives only $10,000 per month from his father’s trust.”

According to the filing, Elijah – the only son of Cher and her ex-husband Gregg Allman – is required to pay $6,500 per month to Marieangela, 38, whom he married in 2013. Attorneys have requested that the amount be decreased to $1,651 per month.

Elijah is also alleging that his ex-wife has “made no efforts to become self-supporting”.

Cher and Elijah have had a lifelong strained relationship; she once claimed that they “had [their] first fight” when her son was only nine-months-old.

“He and I have such a bizarre relationship. We’ve had so many strange moments. I don’t really understand him. Somehow Elijah and I kind of talk through osmosis,” she revealed on Dr. Phil’s TV show.

In April 2026, Cher filed for conservatorship of her son for a second time, after originally dropping a claim in 2024. In the new filing, it was claimed that Elijah has “no concept of money” and is “unable to manage his financial resources”.

Cher also claimed that her son “spends any money he gets immediately,” and alleged it goes towards “drugs, expensive hotels, and limousine transportation.” The request was denied on April 24 without prejudice, allowing Cher to file again if she chooses.

Elijah is believed to be living in a psychiatric hospital; he appeared on camera for the conservatorship meeting.

Elijah’s health struggles have been public knowledge for years, with his drug use beginning at the age of 11. It escalated into heroin and opiates.

Speaking at the time, he said: “I was just looking to escape all the things in my past ,and that’s when you turn to those kinds of drugs… heroin kind of saved me. If I didn’t have that at that point, I don’t know what I would have done. You may jump off a bridge.”

“I had some close calls and some moments of really feeling at the edge of mortality… Even though you think in your mind that you’re being careful, the wrong things can happen. The wrong combination of things can happen, and you can just slip into the abyss.”

In December 2023, Cher filed for temporary conservatorship over her son’s estate, citing severe mental health and substance abuse struggles.  She voluntarily dismissed the petition in September 2024 after reaching a private agreement with Elijah.

In June 2025, Elijah was admitted to a medical facility following what authorities described as “erratic” behaviour.

In February 2026, Elijah was arrested for trespassing on school property, along with criminal threatening and simple assault in New Hampshire. Days later, he was arrested and charged with felony burglary when he broke into a home and dropped a lit cigarette, causing almost $3000 in damages.
