Charlize Theron breaks silence after ‘skeletal’ appearance sparked concern

Charlize Theron responded to the intense online scrutiny surrounding her recent appearance with a typically understated sense of humour.

The Oscar-winning actress, 50, took to Instagram to share a smiling photograph of herself enjoying a meal in New York, alongside the tongue-in-cheek caption: “You told me to eat… Thank you for the best meal in NYC @nyctamayura.”

While Charlize did not directly reference the recent debate surrounding her weight, the timing of the post has caught fans’ attention.

Just days earlier, the Monster star sparked widespread discussion after appearing noticeably slimmer at the Paris premiere of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. 

Videos from the red carpet quickly spread across social media, with some users speculating about whether she had used GLP-1 medications such as Ozempic, despite there being no evidence to support those claims.

Some critics described the actress as looking “skeletal”, while others questioned why one of Hollywood’s most celebrated beauties would feel pressure to lose weight.

However, many rushed to defend Charlize. “Wait, are we pretending she isn’t absolutely gorgeous?” one fan wrote, while another reminded critics that “people age.”

Charlize has not publicly commented on the speculation, but her latest Instagram update appears to show she’s unfazed by the conversation.

Posting images of a selection of sushi, Charlize captioned the post: “You told me to eat…”

The playful comment prompted some fans to interpret the post as a subtle nod to the online commentary surrounding her appearance, although Charlize herself has made no such suggestion.

“I always wondered do stars read the comments and see everyone worried about their weight loss. Love your sense of humor! Brilliant actress,” wrote one fan. 

The actress is currently promoting The Odyssey, Christopher Nolan’s epic adaptation of Homer’s classic poem, in which she stars as Calypso alongside Matt Damon, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o, Tom Holland and Robert Pattinson.
