Carson Daly revealed he talks to his teenage daughter more through Snapchat than face-to-face.
Daily candidly talked about having a difficult time communicating with his 13-year-old-daughter, Etta, on âToday with Jenna & Sheinelleâ Monday.
âI have a 13-year-old, Etta, who is doing great, who I never speak with,â he joked. âDo you speak 13-year-old? Cause I donât.â
âThe Voiceâ host then showed a picture of he and his wife, Siri Pinter, with Etta at her Confirmation ceremony at a Catholic church.
âThere she is, Confirmed ⊠so, sheâs in Godâs hands now,â he commented while the audience laughed.
But he explained he has a much easier time talking to her through Snapchat â the app that lets you send messages that disappear.
âYou ever hear that phrase, âYouâve got to meet kids where they are?â You hear it in business a lot, right? They want to advertise, get in front of them,â he explained.
âIâve taken a page out of that and six months ago, I did join Snapchat,â he continued. âI have literally communicated with my daughter, in particular, more via Snapchat than I have in real life.â
Daly shared a sample conversation he and Etta have.
âI can say, âAre you okay?â And then Iâll put some stupid emoji,â he said. âAnd sheâll write back, like, âLOL,â and all these little things are flying all over the screen.â
He added, âAs silly as it is, I am connected a little bit.â
Daly and Pinter also share son Jackson, 17, as well as daughters London, 11, and Goldie, 6.
On Mondayâs episode, Daly, 52, also shared his deal breaker for his childrenâs future dates.
âThe only reservation I would have for my kids would be, like, a vegan or something like that maybe,â he said.
After producers laughed backstage, he asked, âIs that bad to say? Am I gonna get canceled for that?â
Daly explained that food was an important part of his family.
âIf we didnât have food, I wouldnât talk to my wife about anything. It holds us together,â he said.
âIâm just saying it would suck if they came into the house on a Sunday, and we were going do like a big Daly feast, we make pizzas, and they were like, âI canât eat anything,â I would just be like, âHeâs a loser. Dump him.ââ
