Britney Spears is going for a fresh look.
The hitmaker, who has recently made a string of headlines for a DUI arrest and a subsequent rehab stay, turned to Kim Kardashianâs go-to hairstylist, Chris Appleton, to fix her up with a new style: straightened and smooth blond locks â a departure from her usual more voluminous âdo.
Appleton posted a photo of himself and Spears showing off her sleek new tresses to Instagram Monday, with the singer playfully sticking her tongue out at the camera while brandishing a handful of hair irons.
âAs a kid growing up in England, Britney Spears was the soundtrack to so many moments,â Appleton captioned the post. âNever in a million years did I think Iâd one day be standing behind the chair (or in this case her standing behind mine, lol) styling her hair.â
âSome moments really do come full circle,â he added. âShe is not only an icon, but one of the most genuinely kind and gentle souls Iâve ever met.â
Appleton, who admitted that he can charge up to $200,000 for his services, is known for having engineered Kardashianâs platinum blond hair for her Marilyn Monroe-inspired look for the 2022 Met Gala.
Kardashian herself gave her seal of approval on Spearsâ hairstyle, commenting on the post with two heart-with-arrow emojis.
Spearsâ new look comes on the heels of her numerous troublesome stints in the news. In March, she was arrested in Ventura County, California, on suspicion of DUI.
In shocking dashcam footage, the Grammy winner could be seen failing a field sobriety test after claiming she had only had one mimosa earlier that day.
Spears had allegedly taken several prescription medications that day, including Adderall, Lamictal and Prozac, according to a police report.
In April, the âOops!âŠI Did It Againâ songstress checked herself into rehab. After a little more than two weeks in treatment, Spears exited the facility and a source exclusively told Page Six that she was âdoing really well.â
Last month, Spears pleaded guilty to a lesser âwet recklessâ charge, avoiding jail time in exchange for probation, fines and a three-month alcohol education program.
Most recently, the âGimme Moreâ singer posted a cryptic comment about âmean girls,â which came directly after she opened up online about âemotional issuesâ she was battling in a since-deleted post.
