Britney Spears is in rehab following her DUI arrest last month.
A rep for Spears confirmed to Page Six on Sunday that Spears has voluntarily checked herself into a treatment facility.
The new development comes weeks after her arrest on a DUI charge in Ventura, California.
Sheâs due in court on May 4.
Sheâs been supported by her sons Preston, 20, and Jayden, 19, over the past few weeks.
Sources told us that Spearsâa arrest came as a wake-up call.
At the time of the arrest, a source exclusively told us the singer was âincredibly emotional.â
According to our source, Spears âfelt ashamed and embarrassedâ and is âvery sorryâ for what happened.
âItâs been a very hard couple of months,â the source said.
On March 4, Spears was taken into custody after authorities saw her swerving in and out of lanes. They also allegedly discovered an unknown substance inside her car during her arrest and she is believed to have been on a cocktail of alcohol and drugs.
She was released the following morning, per arrest records from the Ventura County Sheriffâs Office.
A spokesman for the Ventura County District Attorneyâs Office told the California Post, âThe DUI case against Britney Spears has been submitted to the Ventura County District Attorneyâs Office and is under review by our prosecutors.â
